Gossip System

Those visiting the pilgrim camp at the foot of Mount Avechna will notice that it has become a hot gossip spot! You can now use the new landmark (pilgrimcamp) to get there faster from the Aetherplex too.

You will be prompted about it being a gossip spot upon arrival and from there you can either continue to passively listen to the gossip while in the room, or IGNORE GOSSIP if you change your mind. We are starting with gossip being available only in that one spot, mainly to get that feature to you as soon as possible. Something larger or more complicated can be worked on in the future but right now, we want you to get some of that gossip right away.

What constitutes gossip? Right now events, denizen interactions, and assorted world additions that make sense to be a topic of conversation. For example, there is gossip about the new Rikenfriez quest, about sweaters being a new pattern, and about pilgrims visiting this or that place. Not all interactions result in event posts so it is not always easy to find out what happened recently. And once you know, there are lots of ways to interact with that further. The gossip will generally point you to the right place and provide a summary or a starting point, but if you want to learn more, you will still have to ask around.

You will notice that some gossip comes with hints, pointing you to news posts, changelogs, or new quests. If you would rather just get the gossip, disable hints temporarily. In addition to that, some gossip might be in a specific language, but when that happens it will usually just provide additional information or opinion on gossip already available in common too.

The oldest piece of gossip in the system right now dates back to May 7th, but everything else is no older than a month. The intention is for the system to have gossip from the past 30 days or so, so you can easily catch up on what has been going on around the Basin of Life. The gossip will fire once every minute right now, but will delay slightly if there is chatter at the camp so as not to interfere.
