I had to do eenie meenie to figure where I'd put this post. Don't thwap me! *cower*

Let's face it, some of us, who have incredible loyalty and addiction to... Err... I mean... Firm belief in... Iron Realms games *cough cough*, really want to be able to be able to develop awesome visuals of the game, and also develop into awesome characters within it. We starving artists wanna have exposure I tells ya, but I wonder if the Bardic/Artisanal will be the same in Lusternia as it is in the other IRE games, or if there'll be one at all.

There probably just isn't enough time to spare in the Garden to judge visual and literary works at this point in development though... So we'll be patient and there will be much rejoicing when we finally find out what the deal will be. Let's get the bigger priorities sorted out first.

Well, really I'd just like the credits, but that's good enough for me... The only reason I can see against Bardic/Artisanal contests is a big one, though: all of the *#&%! rippers. If I had a nickel for every stolen piece of artwork I'd seen submitted, I'd have more money then I care to think about.

Y'know. The sad thing is that all these people ripping off others' work don't realize that it can lead to a big fine having to be paid to the owner of the copyright... And since Lusternia would most likely have all submitters assign their copyrights to them, that means Lusternia gets in trouble.

P.S. Fast Reply rocks!!!

First, there's no reason for Lusternia to take all rights. Second, the way this is normally handled is that the person claiming copyright indemnifies the publisher of the copyrighted material. If it turns out that the material actually belongs to someone else, the publisher lets the author/artist/photographer hang.

Whilst I would dearly love to read Lusternian bardic entries, I fear it may be some time before we can judge contest entries, given the amount of things we have to do at the moment...

My best suggestion would be to just assume anything I write, including all posts on this forum, to be instantly worthy of first place honors and all ensuing prizes. Assuming that the prize is more tempting than your well-wishes, I whole-heartedly throw my support behind this concept.

In all seriousness, I do look forward to writing things worthy for submission. I also look forward to crushing the opposition, although that is more of a hope than anything else.

If you really want to put some bardic work somewhere, we can always try to get a Lusternia section on Fanfiction.net.
I've tried to get this kind of thing done on Achaea before, but it seems no one else is interested. After all, not all works submitted into these things are winners, or runners up or merit awarders, but don't they still deserve to have it read? Also, FF.net has the added benefit of allowing people to leave comments.
So, anyway, if other people are hoping to have people read their stories, go to FF.net and sign up there..
I've just been looking at the ff.net site and there doesn't seem to be an area to put these.. aah..

How do I suggest a new category?
You must have a story ready to submit before requesting a category.

Request procedure:

Submit a support ticket to the "New Category Request" department with all the necessary details.

So, if you're interested, there's what you should do!

I would like to point out that we do have a Creative Arts forum, if you would like to put things there. Later on, we probably will have contests, as I'm quite keen on seeing them... but, for now, you can throw drafts, sketches, and things out for people to (constructively! *roar*) comment on, at least.

I'd like "contests" to be something IC. If you win, it gets published in game. In a library or sorts, with books and journals. If its a picture, along with your drawn submision you can submit a description of the picture for someone who can't see pictures. I.e anyone in the mud looking at your "painting" And if its music, well thats probabbly harder, but I'm sure musicians can figure something out. Maybe if it has lyrics npcs can sing it, or there can be minstrels in the inns who play when you pay them.

Like someone else said, there's no reason to have the copyright transfered to Lusternia. And plenty of reasons not to. But it's still a nuisance to see someone win with something you know they stole, and then to have to go through and explain that they stole it from some obscure reference... And there's the confusion that some people have over what "stolen" means. (It means that even if you took your own pencil and paper and copied it, since you copied it exactly you still stole it.) Anyway... /rant
