I personally chose to use Wintin. First of all, its' scripting language was in many ways similar to ZMud, which I came from, so I found it easy to use. Also, Wintin (and to an even greater extend Tintin++ for those of us on linux connections) is -incredibly- light on the system resources, which is useful for those of us with very low end PCs.

I believe some people in Aetolia did some benchmark testing of common clients, with varying system sizes, and varying computer capacity. Wintin came out to be a good deal faster than Zmud, especially with very large systems uploaded, on all systems.

The annoying things about Wintin are its Telnet-like text entry and the fact that it has no #wait command (but this has just forced me to be more inventive, and in the end better, with the way I make scripts).

But its definately worth a try, ESPECIALLY if you connect from a low-end PC. If anyone needs any help with commands, feel free to ask here. I'm always willing to help Wintin converts.

P.S. Wintin.net isn't all that great. Use the original and the best.

I've tried wintin.net and noticed that typing 'ne' attempts to move you north, then east...if you want to move ne you have to type out northeast. Tres annoying.

Just type #speedwalk to toggle speedwalk off. That's pretty common in many clients.

Thanks for that. I haven't used anything like this before so I had no idea.

I'm still tempted to use Zmud though, simply for its mapper. Are there any clients out there with a similair (but hopefully better) mapper?

I've looked at Wintin.net in the past, but now they have documentation on how to make your own add-ins! I'm giving this a serious look now because I write C# code for a living and I think I could possibly make the most advanced curing system any IRE game has ever seen. Even better than the ACP XL! Heh.. One step at a time, though.
