MS Paint does fine. If you don't care for that, try GIMP. Or even Notepad, depending on how "visual" you want to get.

You get what you pay for. If you want a real mapper, I'd recommend putting down the cash for zMapper, it's worth it.

ALClient is the only other client that has a visual mapper that I know of off the top of my head, and I could never get that working.

It works fine for the mud it is designed for, but it is near useless for every other mud.
