Forest Guardians/Spirits

Back to Common Grounds.

After doing massive research on the Glomdoring, and seeing a massive amount of other people jumping in to take the reigns, I've turned my attention elsewhere. I've started to put together notes about the Ackleberry Commune (Lake Coven etc.) and hopefully information on if it still exists (history shows they are not sure). One question for everyone that read the history, in that does anyone know the second guardian for the Ackleberry?

Serenwilde - Mother Moon, White Hart
Glomdoring - Mother Night, Crow (Brother Raven)
Ackleberry - Mother Lake, ?

I didn't see it yet so figured I'd ask.

Also, what do you think of the whole nature guardian deal and their various looks etc. Personally, I think it is an amazing addition as if they all ever return, could fashion good rivalry between groups. I love Crow, just wish he wasn't so freakin tainted and missing an eye (look at him for goodness sake, his eye is gone!).

I can't honestly say I remember seeing the second Guardian there either.

The other Guardian will most likely live within the Lake.
Unknown2004-11-01 17:48:59
Maybe not, maybe within the trees, no one remembers.

I thought it was Sister River?

Ackleberry - Mother Lake, ?

I belive that the Druids of Ackleberry also follow Mother Lake, but I cannot remember very well.

Lakes are cool; they hold water. "Back, fiend, or thou shall be damp!"

History/help files stuff says all the forest communes had two guardian spirits...

Going by the others

1 spiritlike and 1 animal

Serenwilde - Mother Moon (spiritlike) and White Hart (stag)

Glomdoring - Mother Night (spiritlike) and Raven/Crow (bird)

Ackleberry - Mother Lake (spiritlike) and ??? (assuming an animal)

Mother Lake and Albino Squirrel?

Well.. The choices seem to be:

Sun, Rock, Tree, River
Squirrel, Skunk, Groundhog, Trout, Wolf, Bear, Monkey, Horse, Snake

River seems to make the most sense for the spirit-guardian... even though the coven is the Lakewood coven.

For the other, my guess would be perhaps Groundhog or Trout.

Joebob says, "Fear me, I have transcendant Groundhog Totems."

*shudder* I have horrible visions of that weird fish from Dark Cloud 2...the giant glamour fish in the forest. Hopefully, one day the mystery will be solved!

I havn't read the histories, but I assume the water based animal spirit would be based on an animal that has an implied personality charachteristic.

Stag being royal and proud, Crow being fiendish and deathly, I'm guessing it'll be an animal that fits the personality of the forest your talking about.

Neale, you forgot Upside Down Dead Goldfish.

But seriously, since I just spent two hours reading the full history, I think it's Mother Lake and an animal spirit that ISN'T in Totems. Crow and Night were tainted, that's why bonders still have access to them. But Ackleberry was removed from existance, as were the spirits that guarded it. It was definitely Mother Lake, and you cannot bond with her.

That's the good thing about having such a large and detailed history. Some mysteries will perhaps never be unravelled for centuries to come. Cosmic.

NOOO. You reminded me! Curse you Devris! >_<
Okay, okay, I'm calm, I'm calm. Don't ever mention that fish again though.

And I think...I think that trout would sound very, very stupid as a skillset. Stag, sure, moon, sure, celestialism, sure, trout...wait, what? So I really hope not. Wait a minute, trout don't even live in lakes! Maybe a snake. Y'know, a river snake. Or a toad or something. I dunno.

Groundhog.

I really think Ackleberry's second spirit would be one not available in Totems. We KNOW Mother Lake was the first spirit, yet we cannot bond with Her. Why? Because She vanished along with Ackleberry. Therefore, it makes sense that the second spirit also vanished. Groundhog and Trout aren't vanished, they're alive and healthy. Hence why people can bond with them.

I'm surprised that nobody has suggested Sister Fishcake.

On a more serious note, perhaps the truant totem would be Owl, Bobcat, Turtle, or Heron? They seem appropriate for a forest located near the mountains (for the first two) and near water (for the last two), and none can be bonded with at this time.
