I've been feeling a bit curious about other people's characters, so I'm starting this topic so comments can be traded back and forth on characters. So without further ado, a rundown on Ellara.

She can't remember all that much yet, though she is in contact with her mother and father. Since they're in fairly high positions in the Nihilists, she's aspiring to prove herself worthy as a leader, too. She can be rather mean, vicious, and hypocritical, and her position as a Sergeant in the ur'Guard lets her take it out on the novices. She's only about seventeen, so she's still fairly emotionally unstable, and the fact that she passed through the Portal of Fate only makes it worse. Even though she hides it well, she has crushes abruptly and then gets over them just as quickly. She's really, really lonely, and really, really unsure of herself. Just the same, she's aspiring to impress the ur'Guard and Magnagora, and maybe someday rise to a position of power within one or both of them.

Input? A rundown on your own characters? Flaming? Bring it on.
Kyros2004-11-01 05:55:29
Kyros is a Tae'dae Serenguard. He doesn't speak very well, is a bit on the slow side, but considers himself much more intelligent than most people. Towards friends he's very jovial, helpful and nice to be around. Around enemies, enemies of his friends, enemies of anything he's affiliated with, or anyone who wrongs him in any way (He's killed someone for stealing the rockeater he was training.) As his warcry so aptly states... "K'ros crush!"
He doesn't care all that much about his life before he passed through the Portal. He prefers to live his life as it is now, though when the time comes he may search for any relatives he might have. He's devoted to protecting the Serenwilde, according to his views of how it should be protected.
Daganev2004-11-01 05:56:56
let the stupid tae'dae multiply! I'm happy I'm not the only one. More on me to come in the future.
Bricriu2004-11-01 06:00:59
Actually, El, this is a good idea! I'll jump the bandwagon, too!

Bricriu is rather....loopy. Unlike many people and their memories, she has hers - unfortunatly, she can never fully access them, hence and because of her unstable nature. It's not so far gone as having split personalities, rather, having a severe case of being bi-polar, which was made worse after hopping through the portal of fate, and then AGAIN by pacting first to Gorgulu. She's highly prone to viscious mood swings, going from being happy go lucky, to laying the verbal smackdown on people, should they be doing something she thinks is wrong, and you can never really tell what that will be. She's not a BAD person, perse, but not really a GOOD person, either. I want to say chaotic, really....hmmm...I think I will!

Wow, I need more development time. unsure.gif

My character... Hmmm...

He's got this issue with getting help from others, and only asks when it's completely necessary. He's human, so he takes pride in his ability to learn quickly and adapt to things, and he also takes pride in his body. He works at keeping it slim and fit, and has this thing about health and nutrition that can annoy people sometimes. He's not shallow however, and even though he may seem that way due to his flirtatious ways, he's slowly beginning to remember a very important man in his life; maybe a relative and maybe not, but whoever this man is, he brings my character in to focus on his spirituality, and furthering his goals of becoming a witch...

And he's quite analytical with certain things...

Loves chocolate...

Lightning... Ok I'll stop now...

Seafood, dancing, thinking up rituals, ogling the loboshigaru boys from afar...
Daganev2004-11-01 06:53:39
"They are extremely affable, proud and charismatic, and most have
an inborn desire to protect the furrikin, who are often inexplicably
referred to as their "little brothers and little sisters" (and it is true
some furrikin look like miniature tae'dae). Though notoriously known for
being of small intellect, the typical tae'dae believes just the opposite,
considering him or herself to be uncommonly wise."

This is where I started my charachter from.. I decided to be an evil Winnie the pooh. And its kinda grown from there. Daganev Smith is a tae'dae who got a nasty wound to the head as a child and so can't speak to well, but he's very wise and will tell you so. Thinking what he sees of people to be absolute truth. He has "protected" or "enslaved" depending on how you look at it, a furrikin who works the forges for him, and reads letters and posts for him, as well as writes them. He's an aboslute follower of leaders, of if your not offciially one of his leaders he'll do what he thinks is best and assume your an idiot, unless ofcourse a leader tells him otherwise. He's very friendly to people he meets and other tae'dae but when he's on the warpath, he doesn't recognize his targets as people, only maybe afterwards he does. And he most definitly doesn't know much history or the like, and only knows what people tell him of the world. So he asks historical questions a lot. Oh and he's the self proclaimed best forger in the world, look out for Designer forgings by Daganev

Visaeris is a complex personality. He hates having to kill, but he feels an obligation to follow a strict code of ethics. In terms of personality, much of his bravado is merely a show, and at his core he's a very gentle, caring creature, torn by inner conflicts.

A lot of his internal turmoil originates as a result of his memory. Fragments of different lives, shards of knowledge and wisdom are scattered through his mind. His memories are glimpses of things from the age of the Vernal Gods, the Taint Wars, and everything in between. The longest continuous string of memory he possesses is a segment of about 6 years, from a male of age 10 through 16. This memory-string is filled with endless hours studying history, magics, military tactics, and hundreds of hours practicing and physically training. Much of his martial skill is derived from these studies, tactics and strategies floating out of the recesses of his memories in times of need.

Yay! Character info!

Ok, Lagato has some of his memories from before he passed through the Portal, and he knows himself to be a distant cousin to one of the Viscanti Great Houses of Magnagora, although, due to the selectivity of his memories left from the Portal, he is unsure which one it is. He is a relatively pleasant person, although he can, and will, go from pleasant to horrible in a matter of seconds if he is sufficiently provoked. He is completely uninterested in women romantically, preferring men. Lagato prefers talking to fighting, largely because of his lack of fighting ability, rather than any ideas of "mercy".

Alrighty....Felemar Palewynd----

Felemar was born to two Viscanti Nihilists. His father was in charge of exploration and this is why Felemar was born in a cave of the Scorpion Tail mountain range.
He seemed destined to become a Nihilist and a leader there too and as he went about as a child, he picked up on some of the most basic skills and knowledge of the Nihilists and studied heavily on the Histories and Geography of the realms. At the age of 19, he stepped through the Portal and found himself amongst the Nihilists, the place he was destined to be. He found himself amongst many of the finest scholars in the realms, working to help those that needed it and found himself amongst the guild leaders. His life quickly became stagnant there and he felt there was nothing more to learn so he went to the ur'Guard....the least likely place one would expect to find a scholar. Despite the constant efforts of the ur'Guard to ensure him that he should leave behind his philosophical lifestyle and stick to the blades but he has fun going against the grain and is loving the chance to grow in knowledge and in spirit. As for his personality....I tend to think of him as calm and level-headed....he is oddly compassionate and is often more for playing things through with logic rather than with force. He doesn't aspire to rule the world or a city, he just wants to learn, help others and protect what is around him. He is always open to peaceful discussions over any subject and is always eager to hear of new things to learn. He has a sense of humor should he choose to display it and he prefers to be a wanderer, living in the areas outside of Magnagora unless necessity should draw him in.

There are other...dim...tae'dae? -xplode-

Well, my history will be up sometime soon. And it'll be very long, because I'm in the mood for describing every last inch of Cronus' history.
Rilandria2004-11-01 20:38:13
I'll do Rilly!

After stepping out of the Portal of Fate, Rilandria had only her basic memories intact... her name, her gender, etc... and an extreme love for a concept she did not understand; the Light. The moment she stepped out of the Portal she began to utter a prayer for the Light, and stopped midway through wondering what she was doing. The days following were filled with contemplation about whatever the "Light" was, and as she continued to think about it she began to remember bits and pieces of her life before. She knew that the Light was a religious concept, and she knew she loved it more than her own life.

So she began to wander, to find where her home was... looking off to the east and seeing the Tainted lands, she felt disgusted and could hardly even bring herself to look in that direction. Instead, she looked to the north and the forests, but it provided no shelter for her. She simply wandered around, lost, gazing at all of the strange sights within. When she finally saw the gleaming city on the horizon, the name of which popped in her head instantly, she knew that was where she belonged. Upon arriving there she asked as many people as she could about the City, and discovered that it was devoted to the Light as she was. The following days consisted of Rilandria exploring the city, remembering more bits and pieces about her former life. She soon learned of all of the Guilds, and decided that the path of the Celestine was for her. However, in her search for the guild hall she became lost, and ended up in the harbor. As she gazed out at the waters there she felt a deep longing, and almost jumped in the waters right there. She would have too, if the fisherman near her hadn't grabbed her arm. She remembered about the Aquamancers at that moment, and knew that although she loved the Light so, her place was in protecting the Waters from any harm that may come to them.

Every day now Rilandria learns something new about her life, but her past still remains a mystery. She only knows of her love for the Light and the Waters, and that the goal she has had her entire life, even before entering the Portal, was to see the end of the Taint.
Kaelar2004-11-01 21:18:04
Eh, Kaelar's background is still 'in the works', though I do have a brief outline of it in my mind. Keep an eye on my background in game, as when I finish it, that's where you'll find it.

As for his personality: He's usually rather quiet, preferring to sit back and analyse a situation before jumping into the middle of it without preparation. Though in tight situations, he's known to make spur of the moment decisions, which may or may not have been the best approach to the situation. At times he can be kind of mean and show little to no emotion, even to those that are close to him. When he does decide to speak up, or take action in a situation, he does so with a fierce determination to see it through; he won't give up after half-doing something.

Ironically, quite the opposite of me in real life, making it all the more challenging, (and fun) to roleplay it well. It's also annoying, when people expect talking to me on AIM or something to be just like talking to Kaelar IC.
Unknown2004-11-02 01:15:47
In the works on background and such, if I had to say, Hayden is a "class clown". He has his moments where everythings just so frustrating and he usually just quietens and punches a statue or something stupid but for the most part he is wild, sexy and humorous. (Determined to make Lady Isune blush, got swoon and sway)
Unknown2004-11-02 02:02:06
Wasn't going to share who I am, but why not, this is interesting.

Rexali. Last name, currently unknown. Remembers his father, his abilities, the history of his family (ingrained in his mind by his father).

Family, merchants/nobility/leaders of Hallifax. Lucidians. In Magnagora on business when Kethuru was unleashed. Tainted. Permanently seeking for a way to return to being true Lucidians ('reincarnate into' would not work. That changes your body, not your true race), and seeking for a way to find Hallifax again.
Unknown2004-11-02 02:40:00
Donnar........what can I say. He's a beserker. Prefers to fioght with axes and blunt weapons above all. He loves strong alcohol, women, and fighting. It's not an uncommon thing to see him getting drunk and high before a war, enraging himself with dwarven battlechants, and going balls out on his opponents. Totally crazy on the battlefield, but a good, respactable man otherwise. Likes to be in the ur'guard guild, and love the mountains and cavernous regions. Loves to tell and hear dirty jokes/stories, and is a bit foul-mouthed.
Hazar2004-11-02 08:58:52
Hmm, I suppose I have to talk about Hazar first.

Hazar is descended from a minor aristocratic house in Hallifax, the Hazael, and his ancestors were outside Hallifax during the...whatever it was...due to internal bickering. More than anything he simply wants a single government over everything, be it commune or city, Tainted or light. He originally thought the city to do so would be Celest, and threw a lot of thought and work into that city. He became rather disgusted with it over time, and left for Magnagora, which he had for a time admired for it's drive, and now resides there, pondering.

Hazar regards the Taint as a mere power source, no different than taking power from the Pool. More than anything he despises bickering and factionalism, and seeks to destroy those factors wherever he finds them. He is also quite likely to throw himself into hopeless battles merely to give a good show.

Now...the fun charecter. Don't mind me if I tend to go on.

Zin was born a humble human in Magnagora, loyal and studious as a Magnagoran could be. However, when he was fourteen or so, he fell haplessly in love with a viscanti girl who lived a few lanes away. He tried several times to gain her attention somehow, and failed miserably.

Zin then taught himself both the basics of Elementalism and Jewelry. Traveling out to the mountains, he dug magically through a mountain until he pulled out the perfect diamond, which he then painstakingly crafted into a breathtaking ring. He then set out to try to win the girl's heart once more.

She said she didn't associate with lesser races.

Zin was crushed, and vainly set off to pass through the Portal of Fate in hope of having something done with his life. He is obssessed with becoming a Viscanti and undead, and will often weave illusions to hide the fact he is neither as of yet. Mentally unstable, he follows a twisted personal mythology, the beacon of which is the viscanti he loved. The one part of the real world he truely answers to is Raezon, who perfectly fits Zin's philosophy of evolution and ascension. He tends to act in an apparently erratic manner, following his own crooked lines of thought.
Zhaine2004-11-02 09:27:40
Like he said, why not, this is interesting.

Zhaine is a zealot and a fanatic. According to him, the Light is the be all and end all of everything. However, his definition of the Light is, as most religious zealots way of thinking goes, very narrow. If you don't fit his precise mould of a true follower of the Light, then you're an imposter. According to Zhaine, a lot of New Celest are a "Sickening dimness of the true Light" as he tells anyone who cares to listen to his rantings. He will use any means necessary to separate the true followers from those who are simply "there because they didn't want to be in Serenwilde or Magnagora".

He is a gentleman, unless the subject turns towards the Light, in which case he does the whole fanatic thing, without the foaming at the mouth. He also wants to be a warrior, as he has vague recollections of his family being warriors and/or soldiers. He's not very good at it, but he tries, and fighting with a group is his preferred method of combat, not because he's a coward, but moreso because it gives him a sense of comraderie, as he enjoys his current role as a support fighter, hoping to garner enough experience from the fighting between Magnagora and New Celest to perhaps shine enough and take his place as a main combatant, and fight in the name of the Light.

He remembers only two things about his past. First is that his family have always been dedicated to the Light, going to whatever means necessary to ensure the sanctity and purity of the Light and it's followers. Second is how he lost his eye, which was as a child travelling through Serenwilde. Doesn't know how he lost it, but he assumes by the nasty scar on his other eye that someone did it, so he dislikes Serenwilders with a passion, which works out well because as far as he's concerned, both Serenwilde and Magnagora are enemies of the Light. If you're not with the Light, you're obviously against it.

And as far as what he thinks about his city's dedication towards the Light...well, we wont go into that because someones likely to use it against me in game tongue.gif hehe, but there's a couple of people who know what I mean when I say he'll go to any lengths to make sure that the "flock stays pure" ninja.gif wink.gif

P.S Damn that's long...anyone ever notice you tend to get carried away when writing stuff like this?
Ialie2004-11-02 10:57:42
Ialie is Ialen’s twin Sister. She wandered from the portal lost and confused for about half a day until she happened upon brother. It was obvious when she saw him that they were related they looked exactly alike. It is amazing how extremely different they both are.

Any memories of parents or former residency are lost to her as of now.

She is a peaceful being and believes life to be precious. She believes there can be goodness found in all people and will usually seek a peaceful avenue before resorting to violence. She hates being angry and will often seek the comfort and discipline of prayer to calm her in times of crisis.

She enjoys putting smiles on people’s faces. One of her worst fears is someone being disappointed in her. She has the annoying habit of always saying she is sorry , and popping up in the wrong places at the wrongs times. She is also incredibly nosy and won’t hesitate to ask a stranger what is wrong if she thinks something is amiss.
Shoshana2004-11-02 11:12:57
Shoshana's an aslaran aquamancer, for those who don't know her. She loves civilisation, believing that the savages over in Serenwilde are, well, savages with no morals who could never be trusted with anything (I think there are far too many in New Celest willing to ally with the 'wilders, but I won't go into that dry.gif) and she hates the taint. She only remembers bits and pieces of her past, but she was the daughter of a noble and is highly educated about the world, theoretically, although she hasn't been out to experience most of it for herself. Due to her upbringing, she is a great believer in manners and being polite, and while she thinks that Serenwilders are hopeless cases, she will correct Celest citizens' manners whenever she feels they are being less than civilised.

She also has an obsession with cleanliness, hence the Aquamancers. This is to the extent of dying her fur white (although she can't remember how she used to do it since stepping through the Portal, she's trying to figure it out before it regrows completely), and she always makes sure to wash herself thoroughly if she's been out in the wild alot (She views the elementalism spell as a quick fix that doesn't nearly compare to a decent bath).
Unknown2004-11-02 11:53:37
Alyssandra remember practically nothing from before the portal, she has concluded that she must be half elfen, due to her size compared to a normal elf, but other than that is at a loss to who she used to be. A lot of people would call her a stubborn cold hearted bitch, and they would be half right.

Alyssandra firmly lives by the belief that you make your own choices, you have your own opinions, and you suffer your own consequences, which seems to annoy some of the more conservative members of Serenwilde. She sees her role as clearly defined, protect the Mother at all costs, anything and everything else is incidental.

Her feelings toward both cities is one of contempt, though with her role in the Serenguard and the Serenwilde she acts with grace but indifference towards those that approach her on official business. She is willing to listen to anyones opinion, but most definitely lives by the rule "You are entitled to your own opinions, even though you are wrong" after all why hold an opinion if you don't believe it to be correct.

I mean this is only the basics of her, she is an in depth person and is more than willing to sit and argue points of view with anyone if you feel up to it.
