I would like to see some mobs like the grubs that give you personal power instead of just to the nexus. If you are going to have mobs that take it all away, would be nice to have some that give it too or at least have the mobs that suck it, take a little less.
If you are like me and are cut off from your nexus, the Astral is the only way and it generally costs me about 5 deaths to get 15% as Capricorn and Aries are always drained. I understand that from an RP point, I should not be a merian in Magnagora in the first place but I am RP'ing the role best I can. This generally means I am annoyingly surly but going from 50% to 5% is pretty damn depressing if it has cost you so much to get it in the first place.

From what I've read about Lusternia's power system, I'd say that you're not supposed to be able to find power so easily outside of a city. You're obviously not supposed to use certain key abilities when you have no city (though you do have a city and just not access to your nexus). They're trying to steer us towards organization and not encourage so much the splinter groups of power-hungry rogues seeking fame.
Typhus2004-11-01 18:54:58
Yeah, so we don't have an Aetolia situation here. More rogues than Guildmembers is depressing.
Unknown2004-11-01 21:02:58
To be honest, on other IRE Muds, I don't really notice who the rogues are, (except for those who have the same class as me). Well, unless someone points them out.

Did you not know I was a Rogue monk on Aetolia, Iggy? -Van

I was more talking about Achaea. On Aetolia, I pretty much know at least OF everybody, and what class/guild they're in.

Ever heard of this guy named Jarik?+

I understand that and I'm not talking about easily, I'm talking about getting enough power to summon my demon. At the moment that small amount costs me levels. If they want to encourage organizations thats fine but by having people in charge who can cut you off completely, this is going to create more rogues. I have no motivation to stay in my city at the moment. I can't get rank, I can't get power, I have the skills of a Nihilist which I don't want to lose but why on earth would I stay? I stay out of misplaced loyalty and the hope that the MoP is going to change.
Kaervas2004-11-01 22:46:32
Chances are that as long as Fain is Patron the anti-Merian/Elfen law will remain regardless of who the MoP is

a. It isn't up to the rest of the world to provide you a motivation to stay.
b. It won't lead to more rogues to have strict power allotment, as rogues will be doing exactly what you are doing, but without the ability to USE most of their skills, since they sever their connection to the nexus upon leaving.
c. The rules are for a very good and very IC reason, and are entirely appropriate, both in terms of the power rationing and the racism vs. merians and elfen.
d. I agree that a new MoP isn't likely to help you a bit.
e. The mobs that drain power seem to be universally regarded as bugged.
f. Role playing doesn't always mean you get to play whatever role you want and have it be easy. You're in a challenging position. You might be able to do something to affect the city's position on race as a whole. I guarantee whining about not being able to get power is the worst way to go about it.

You know.. you are dead right. But dear, this was not a whine, this was an IDEA for mobs to give power based on the fact that many drain far too much. Not once has my CHARACTER asked for her power to be returned. I am merely stating that as a PLAYER behind the character, having others dictate such an important thing is the reason many will turn away.

Re: C) The rule about Merian and Elfen is there because everyone tries to curry favour with Fain by being racist as well. If they weren't, they'd realise that looking down on them isn't going to encourage them to change, just to leave.
Re: D) Depends on whom the new MoP is. I can name a few who'd be much more reasonable
Re: F) I see no whining here.

I don't know, but now that I've read the signature, I'm getting a few ideas... it's just as seemingly nonsensical.
Edit: And the post above seems to confirm those ideas. Hmm!
