A recent election I was part of gave me flash backs to Achaea. More specifically, the time I was outguilded for contesting the GM in the Dawnstriders. Some might know what I'm talking about.. Some might not.. but it might refresh some people's memories if I said that it pretty much led to the first time a City Leader ousted a Guild Master.
Anyway, being outguilded on Achaea for contesting was pretty much the decline of Achaea for me (personally, not for everyone). I'd been playing for years, I was a Dawnstrider from Day One, helped Nis some before it was founded. I spent some time in the Jesters, trying not to attack too many novices for being idiots (I think I only attacked Tsain..) Then I went Monk, had it pretty good there. Made a sec, but had that taken away over a shout.. then stupidly I went Sylvan. Don't know why. I hated Covenant and wanted nothing to do with Eleusis..
Anyway, onto the point. I didn't think I could feel as disgusted with a system, even if it's a game, as I did during this election. As far as I am concerned, Merloch was guildfavouring for votes, and my only real life line that was keeping me from just scream at Merloch about where he could shove his spirits left the guild.
The election was an accident, anyway. I wasn't supposed to be able to contest at GR3, but I took out 10k and typed the contest line just to see.. and it worked. Really should fix that, or fix the help file that says GR5.
Anyway, I'm done with that guild. I thought about joining the Crows, but I really don't have it in me to do that. Besides, Visaeris and I don't really like each other. So I'll probably just leave the game now. Merloch has driven off the girl Jalain wanted to marry, or atleast snuggle with. I'd have to ask those who left to join the Crows, but I think he's a factor in why they did join the Crows. Nikua wants me to stay to help hold off the vultures in the Commune. I just feel lost and depressed (again).
So, anyway... Should I stay or should I go?

The election went 10 to 3.
Four people got guildfavours for doing insurmountable tasks.
(Three people convinced the Moon Avatars to beseech Mother Moon for a change in Phase to directly save the Fae-girl, and one person killed Crow, again)
Even if you take away those four people, on the presumption that they were all given favours just to give Merloch votes
That places the rank 6 to 3, still infavour of Merloch.
If you factor in the one person who was favoured by someone else, and gained guild rank 3, it goes 5 to 3, still infavour of Merloch.
Perhaps part of the reason you didn't win was because you failed to give any indication of why you should be voted for. You instead stated two reasons why people should not vote for Merloch, and then, towards the end, another reason.
Merloch even attempted to talk to you, to find out what precisely was your complaint, or thoughts about the Guild, and you disregarded it.

Just to add to this, Merloch has been posting the list of people he's been intending to guildfavour in the guild logs. As Accalia pointed out, the list was in place before you contested. So the election had nothing to do with it.

Well, when the last person you 'talk' to is outguilded because you make them feel uncomfortable, it can't be that hard to see why I wouldn't want to talk to you. Besides, ever heard of Centerlink? I doubt you would have if you're not Australian. But talking to them was a bit more urgent yesterday, if I wanted to actually eat next week.

I say stay... If like what you said, you weren't suppose to contest, then it makes sense. A guild never changes when you leave and if a situation is bad , it will remain bad after you leave. If you stay you have a chance of gathering friends and support and making a change over time.
The guild has been around for what 2 weeks now? Theres years of gameplay ahead of you, but if you leave now, theres not much chance of you joining again.
I always think quiting guilds is a stupid idea untill maybe theres 3 new GMs and theres no change in the guild in the direction you like.
In imperian, most GMS only stayed to be the first GM for maybe... 3RL months. Of course there are some exceptions. But stick it out for a while.
And to Merloch... If you have a running log of who is suppose to get GFS, make it a GHELP scroll instead of in the logs, so everybody can see it, and they don't assume corruption. Or better yet make a Project like Magnagora has.

Daganev- The people who could contest, could vote, and could make news posts, could also see the logs. The only reason I even made the note in the log about who I was favouring, was so that other people didnt favour them for the same reason.
He already quit the guild, he's talking about quitting Lusternia
Jalain - I know what Centerlink is, but I also fail to see why you would be logged online, to a game, while you have to talk to Centerlink. What would happen if you were attacked? Makes little sense to me, but, that's me.
As for the 'last person I talked to'
Tsigany was not the last person I talked to. I've talked to several others since, and after.
She was outguilded for refusing to discuss the problem that she was summoned for. Without a discussion, then there is no defense, without a defense, there is only the offense/prosecution. I won't defend these actions ingame, but, logically, if one refuses to defend themselves, then they admit defeat, or guilt.
Though, I know Tsigany probably feels differently about this, that's not the relevant subject.
Personally, I think you should stay ingame. You've had good ideas in the past IRE games, you just tend to get a little emotional over certain facts, and neglect to accept other ones.

That's funny, I've read the log. Others have read the log. Sure didn't look like what you said happened.

Alyvia says to you, "Bastard."
You roll your eyes at Alyvia.
There. A log.
Wow..How dare you..
Then again, I don't think you did.
Case in point, a log is only a text, which can easily be edited, docted, falsified, or changed to appear different from what originally happened, in any way, shape, or form.

A quick scan here shows me Merloch being intelligent and logical and the other side hurling around accusations without proof and generally saying stupid things.
I'd say that election worked just fine.

You sure about that? I'm an undersecretary, can read and post posts, but can't read logs.
But either way, To view things in a guild with such secrecy is bound to bite you in the butt. Especially in a commune.
Information builds trust.. I should really stop posting on these sites its going to mess up my roleplay.

Hmm.
I think this is a bit silly.
Though I've never been a Moondancer, Merloch and I have spoken about our guilds to one another, and I do think he is doing a fine job. Nothing's perfect, and a lot of what a guild becomes depends on the members you have. That means you Jalain, and everyone else.
I've generally come to find in the Hartstone if all someone does is complain (and we have a person like that, but surprisingly only one person) and moan about the Guild and it's leadership, then the Guild is going to suck for that person. On the other hand if that person makes the best of the Guild and works hard, it will be a great time for them, and a great boost for the Guild as a whole.
And the funniest part, is of course, when Merloch offered the cold hard facts, that even if there had been no guildfavors, by *anyone* he would have still won by nearly double - was ignored and the whining continued.

I could always post the log, it was given to me 5 min after you ousted her, not long enough to doctor. And anyone who knows you, would say that it's accurate.

I wasn't logged in while I was talking to them. I was logged in before I went to have a shower and before I went into town. As for the log.. I think the most important part of it was the: Merloch Averin, Witch of Serenwilde says, "Whether or not you feel comfortable when speaking with guild leadership about things that have been going on within this Guild, is not something which I will take into account, no." line.
But it doesn't really matter anymore. Tsigany has stopped playing the game. Thanks, by the way, Merloch, for driving away one of my friends.
I'm done with the Moondancers as a guild and wish to never speak to any of the leadership again unless I have to discuss something to do with the Treasury with them.
