Okay, I'm not exactly good at this, but it'd be nice to categorise all the monsters and what afflictions they do so people can be prepared. I'll start with the very few that I know, and edit my posts if/when anyone posts here so it's all in one compendiummery thing.

Prime Material Plane
Mountains: Rockeaters: Knockdown
Northern Serenwilde:Tree Frogs: Blindness, Deafness
Glomdoring :Giant Black Widows: Chills, Web and that thing where they snag you from the forest floor - also beware of legbreak from wind.
:Green Eyelash Vipers: Armbreak
:Loamadores: Unbalancing, Blindness
:Cockatrices: Blindness (strips sixth sense), paralysis, ignition.
:Ravenwood Trees: Fear, Trip
:Thornbeasts: Trip, Web
:Ooze: Web, Unbalancing
:Harpy: Kidnap - also watch out for amnesia, head damage, and concussion from falling. Can shield and void too.
:Wasps: Weariness (I think that's what you mean, Lodin)
:Pythons: Shyness, Fear
:Puppetmasters: Zombie summoning, Blindness, Trip
:Zombies: Legbreak, Armbreak, Puppetmaster summoning, Paralysis, Trip(important, not the same as necromantic zombies which aggro on sight of an enemy)
Some Rivers Somewhere:Platypi: Legbreak, and I could have SWORN I saw one voyria me
:Salamanders: Dizziness
The Inner Sea:Anemones: Sunallergy, Paralysis, Web, Powersteal (!)
:Manta Rays: Paralysis, Limbbreak
:Tiger Sharks: Limbbreak
The Sea of Despair:
No clue.

Blasted Lands:Scorpions: Disloyalty
:Gravediggers: Blackout, Shieldbreak

Balach Swamp:Alligators: Legbreak
:Pythons: Shyness, Fear

Skarch Desert:Gila Monsters: Stupidity, Legbreak, Trip
:Cobras: Trip, Blindness
:Sandojin: Trip
:Dashro: Trip
:Dracnari Dudes: Ignition
Ethereal Plane
No clue.

Elemental Planes
Water:Dreamleeches: Sleep (strips insomnia)
:Starsuckers: Unbalancing, Legbreak, Armbreak
Earth:Grubs: Web
:Lindwyrms: That voyria thingy
:Gargoyles:
:Stoneghasts: Blindness

Cosmic Planes
Celestia: No clue.
Nil: No clue.

Astral Planes - Everything here can void.
:Mitrans: Bloodthinning, Stink. Also they somehow knocked me off my broom, but I didn't see how.
:Stainless Steel Goats: Trip
:Bulls:
:Scorpions: Random venoms (Charybdon)
:Virgins: Blackout, deafness, fear
:Lobstrosities:
:Urns: Electricity damage
:Abhorrences: Legbreak, knockdown
:Two-headed Eagles: Can fly, deafness
:Parasites: Paralysis, Powerdrain (although, I had one give me 10 power earlier, for some bizarre reason)
:Fesix: Fear
:Obesefessors: Ignition

Okay, yes, it's a highly lame excuse for a compendium just now. But it's a work in progress. You can all help since I don't bash nearly enough biggrin.gif

*blink* Stainless Steel Goats??

I do have a lot of exploring to do, I see.
Shiri2004-11-15 21:41:44
Hah, that always caught me out. I looked at the "General" forums description and thought it was kidding. It's in the histories though. And one of the stupid buggers ambushed me when I came out of the Megalith on Astral. Probably best for you not to go there though, since you're unranked. About everything up there is NASTY with a capital...everything.

wasps deal weakness
Sylphas2004-11-15 22:24:12
Anemones do sunallergy, octopi can blackout and entangle, mantas can paralyze and break limbs, pythons give shyness, alligators can break limbs.
Shiri2004-11-15 22:34:15
Thanks for all the updates everyone. Just need to find the name of the swamp now. And Lodin, you DO mean weariness, right? Not weakness? I didn't think weakness was an affliction, and I look "weary in body" when one gets me, but I didn't like to assume.

Tigersharks bite the heck out of you.

By the way, if a creature settles down to sleep after it's killed you, does that mean that you did enough damage that, had you had a health vial, you could of killed it instead?
Shiri2004-11-15 22:45:13
Yeah, I figured sharks bite, but I was thinking more of afflictions than just...y'know..eating people. And yeah, I think when they rest down to sleep it means you beat 'em up pretty bad. Only if it lasts a while though. They do it whenever they kill someone, and the longer it takes to sleep, the more health the victim took off them.
Unknown2004-11-15 23:26:20
Oooh. Hmm. Well now I have a handy-dandy health vial, so when I regain that level I lost to the shark, I'll go back and have another go of it.

If they've lost any health and are no longer aggro, mobs will sleep. Every time a nymph pacifies one, they go to sleep next round.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying!

Pythons also give fear.

Desert:
Gila monsters: Loki (or whatever the equivalent is here).
Cobras: knock over. Blindness? I've got the feeling there's another affliction or two that I can't remember as well.
Shiri2004-11-16 00:46:10
Last time I checked, Gilas did stupidity, not Loki...Loki is the random one. Unless this is Aetolia or Imperian you're talking about. Thanks for the reminder though, and the cobras.
Unknown2004-11-16 01:56:41
The random one is the one I'm talking about.
Niara2004-11-16 08:41:29
Lobstrosities only hurt and make you bleed a lot but cause no afflictions.
Unknown2004-11-16 08:53:13
Gila lizards also prone you and break legs.
Rauros2004-11-16 10:22:07
From what I know off the top of my head:

Sharks can cripple or break limbs (both?)

Daevos mobs can cause rigormortis, and a bunch of other annoying afflictions. unsure.gif unsure.gif

More to come as I gather info. Expect edits.
Kharvik2004-11-16 12:44:06
Don't forget those zombies in the Glomdoring who can break limbs, and the puppetmasters who summon more zombies when you attack.
Shiri2004-11-16 13:58:34
Yeah, the puppetmasters and zombies do some nasty stuff, but I don't remember all of it. It gets worse. And Daevos' are chasing, ghosting tanks that tend to hang around Rockholm and Southgard and can afflict with rigormortis, intense wounds, ectoplasm, epilepsy, and all the rest of it. Even 7 of us couldn't beat one in one go.
Rauros2004-11-16 15:51:22
Dont forget that even if you do kill it (and get no experience mind you), it just comes back in Lichdom and grace.
