I'm sure there are a share of DDR players out there. If anyone is within driving distance of Amherst, MA, I'm hosting a DDR tournament at the Hampshire Mall, sponsored by a number of companies with some good cash prizes and other prizes like gift certificates and the like. We've got around 60 people signed up already, so if anyone is interested contact me here and I'll get you some more information.

Any of you DDRers seen "Chicken Payback" by The Bees? That clip basically illustrates why I gave DDR up after the first time I tried it.

I can sing, however.

DDR is the video games companies' resolution to increase overall fitness of kids and teens while also using said fitness inducement to bolster their image away from their "games of a violent nature" that lead kids into the oblivions of sin.

Yes, I was being sarcastic about the last line.

Personally I think the government really designed it.

Do you believe the Government killed Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, and other rolemodels? tongue.gif

Everyone knows dancing is one degree removed from sex, I can't believe you'd even suggest this is less 'sin inducing' then violent games! tongue.gif

DDR and other games like it come from Japan and South Korea where gaming has exploded to levels and is an actual cultural artform and not just a means to make money.

Speaking of DDR... how would you rate your own personal skill?

I personally think I'm... average. I can PA catas well enough to AA HVAM a majority of the times I play it, but there are a few random songs that screw me over. V, Across the Nightmare, So Deep, etc. are a few examples of these songs. I don't know why, but I just don't seem good at them.

I hate any 8th-note run with random jumps in them (except for the ones in HVAM. They're awesome.) I just can't seem to nail them correctly because I'll always end up losing my balance and missing the next 2 or 3 notes consecutively.

I can't freestyle for crap. The only thing I can do is randomly spin around and MAYBE hit a note with my hand. If there's a wall, I can usually bounce off the wall when I'm in an 8th note run, but that's just about all I can do.

Much agreed. The Japanese and Koreans come out with some WiErD games, but some people here have taken it up. My friend lost 30lbs or so playing an hour a day for a month.

Though, he and I are the kinds of people that go nuts on it. Maybe I'll see if I can get a movie of me playing up or something.

And Gaetele, So Deep is an awesome song, but much too hard right now. I prefer Drifting away, a song almost as hard as it, but with the same kickass value. I can't freestyle either, but I do some trippy stuff while playing Drop the Bomb. Spins, playing backwards, not even looking at the screen, switching feet on a freeze arrow (my favorite move I made up).

DDR is -awesome-.

Anyone else ever try strip DDR with a room of girls that can't play, and you getting A on heavy? halo.gif halo.gif halo.gif

*cough* No, because more often than not when I play, I look like a girl.

I wonder what could make people think that!? < <
Richter2005-02-17 23:18:36
I thought you -were- a girl.
