Back to Ideas.

This is directed at the playerbase of Lusternia, rather than the divines.

Why aren't there any books? I am not certain, but I am fairly sure there are no books in the world at the moment. Why is this? We need books. You like books. Its a text game, wouldnt they be fitting?

My idea is that people write books (I will, for sure). And then make libraries...

Aetolia's library/book code (in which books can be made in assorted styles, copied from an existing source, and are usually stored in huge number-heavy menus that are neatly organized) makes my parts happy. How hard would a variant of this be to code? I can see some books or bookshelves being enchanted to prevent removal or copying, to encourage people to sell their own works.

And who wouldn't buy a copy of Mary's Guide to Dragon Turtle Pedicures?

It'll help a lot the guilds with a scholarship kind of roleplay, and also for historians and the such. A guardian archetype guild with a library on sacred texts and philosophy... :-)

I really liked the book system from Imperian, wich looks to be similar to the one in Aetolia (or the same).

yeah, the book system was awesome in aetolia. i had a trollish scholar who travelled from city to city, and just read the whole time. he was a vampire, of course, but he was welcomed into shallam and ashtan even though the city was at war with his city, jus tbecause he made a peace pact that he was there for knowledge. it was real cool.

books in imperian didn't come untill quite a few other things about the game were fixed. I imagine it will be th same in Lusternia.

it'll be real nice when they do, though.

There's been a thread about this before.

Well what do you know, your right. Sorry about that.
All the same, you should write books.

I concur. However, the Divine probably feel there are more important things to be getting underway first, like making sure the skills are at least a little bit balanced.

Here's an idea: let artists bind books! A little leather, a little paper, a little glue, and you have a blank book. If it's a regular book, anyone can MARK (book) and make it so that only they can use it. If it's a manuscript, anyone can write in it. And a bunch of similar ideas, but I'm too tired to do them.

See what I see?
Its possible to make books now. Even if its in a journal that you need to read one page at a time, and get the book again when it resets to the owner, its possible. What I'm saying is that people should write them.

Yeah...I don't think that's a smart idea. Using journals.
