Greatrobes and clothing layers

I got some greatrobes (woo!) BUT... there seems to be confusion about how exactly they go on. When I wore them, I couldn't wear them over a tunic or trousers, and then couldn't put the tunic or trousers back on... though I could still wear a belt, and when I checked myself, I could see the boxers still. My underpants were on the outside sad.gif

What I thought of greatrobes as was some sort of long jacket, or overcoat, though I can understand if they're the more monk-ish type of robes (long, low-hanging arms, skirt-type legs, hood). I'm just confused about exactly how they're meant to be worn, because it makes sense that you could still wear trousers under something like that, and boxers too. I can wear a cloak over the top, too...

As someone who actually considers how his character looks while wearing clothes, not just "omg pretty!! <3" or whatever gives the appearence most beneficial to Influencing... help!? Anyone? Opinions, facts, please?

Try BUGing that it doesn't hide underware. Generally I wouldn't be opposed to having trousers on underneath a great robe, when you consider that the trousers don't protect you really and won't show (at all) through the robe. However, it should look fine to just wear a robe, since you can't see through it (not like a bath robe).

Yeah, I bugged it, and while I know underpants shouldn't be on the outside I don't know what it SHOULD be like. I'd much rather have robes that were more like an overcoat, in that you could tie them up or leave them open slightly (like a bathrobe, but with something underneath) but i'm just not sure. My character doesn't want to look dorky unsure.gif

edit: Actually the description makes them sound just like a bath robe (with a cord you can tie them closed or open with). I should have checked more carefully... in this case I think they should simply go over the top of things like shirts, pants, AND boxers.

Well, I'm pretty sure you don't have other stuff because of influencing (like if you have some amazing great robes, plus the richest trousers and shirt, plus a fur coat, that'd be a bit much). Of course no one who was wearing something for RP would do that, but we don't have rules because of RPers...

I first thought that you just couldn't wear the newbie stretch clothes with armours but I had to notice that I couldn't wear a dress together with my leather vest and/or leather leggings. I guess this goes for most clothes and I hope it will be changed soon. Of course some clothes-armour combinations don't make sense wearing them together like fullplate and a dress but this kind of realism isn't really needed here in my eyes.

I liked how the clothing worked on the other IRE games, but it seems i cant wear armour and clothing at the same time, this, has made me quite a bit dissapointed.

The fact is, there are intrinsic benefits associated with wearing clothing (influencing benefits, greatrobe protection, greatrobe enchantments) and with wearing armour (greater protection than generally offered by greatrobes), so it becomes a choice of which you require. Not fighting? Take off your armour! I'm sure it must be tiring wearing those leather leggings or chainmail for a few months straight.

The greatrobes situation comes straight from City of Heroes - its all you mage types with Superhero syndrome ninja.gif

I don't see any reason influencing should be a problem. Only the top layer should count. Even stat says something about only judging from the clothes that can be seen. It could work the same way for armor-if it hits your robes before it hits the leather you have on underneath, only the robes have an effect. Not quite realistic, but it would work fine for both RP and from a game mechanics perspective.
