Was Halo 2 as good as you expected to be? Better? Worse? How does it compare with Halo: Combat Evolved? Graphics? Levels? AI? New duel wielding? Weapons/Vehicles? Campaign plot? On Xbox Live?

Personally, it didn't quite reach my expectations but it way close - I still love it. I've completed the campaign, but only on Easy; Heroic and Legendary seem to be both beefed up a bit, especially the AI. In the campaign levels, I sometimes feel a bit claustrophobic - but, still, they're alright. The campaign plot at the end is a bit cheesy, and the graphics on the plant-thing are a bit average. The rest of the graphics are great, especially the movie-clips near the beginning.
Multi-player is OK, but it still feels not much different than the original Halo, even with the more varied levels. Also, where's all the god-damned Warthogs. Much earlier, there was supposed to be about six different types of Warthogs - all for different things: speed, camouflague, heavy assualt, penetrating etc. - but now there's only two versions, which are both kind of similiar. I also miss the vastness of Sidewinder, and the speed of Prisoner (awesome on Rockets). I'm glad the copy of Blood Gulch - Coagulation - is slightly smaller (less walking time), and the remake of Battle Creek (now Beaver Creek) has a little more freedom. Most vehicles now seem to go a little slower (good or bad?), but the Covenant ones all have boost which makes up for it. One small thing which is a little annoying is the removal of the Banshees fuel rod cannon on multi-player, but, then, the boost makes up for that as well.
I haven't played it on Xbox Live yet, but I hope to get it ASAP, once I get broadband. From what I've heard, it sounds awesome, but why did they lower the player limit from 64 to 16. 64 may be a little crazy, but at least, if it was there, everyone would have the freedom to choose such a ludicrous amount.
Despite all these things, I still believe Halo 2 is a very exciting and intruiging game, and I can't wait for Halo 3 (there will be one, judging by the end of Halo 2). I just hope that the third differs a bit more from it's two prequels, because, after a while, veterans of the original who have out-played it, may find that the will out-play Halo 2 very quickly... Or not.

Halo 2 produced two things. Dual Wielding and Red Versus Blue.
Xbox live is awesome, pwning people is never as much fun as it gets over the mic.
Legendary was indeed too hard for me to solo, but coop proved it to be one of those Ahhh, so THAT'S what you're supposed to do.
All in all, A-, can't wait for it to be ported to PC.

I'd say most people were disappointed because the hype was so built up that it didn't provide everything they expected. Honestly, I think it was a great game, with many improvements over the original. Sure, I would have loved to fire from the back of a Pelican, have nighttime battles, or have six kinds of Warthogs, but I think it's pretty good anyway.
One thing I like is how all vehicles can be destroyed now. It pissed me off to no end that I would kill people in a vehicle in the original, and someone else would just get in and run me over.
Also, I think boarding is infinitely more satisfying than dual-wielding. Nothing says "owned" like being kicked out of a Banshee in midair and falling to your doom.
As for the campaign on the harder difficulties, I think the idea is no longer to run in, guns-blazing, rambo-style, without having to duck for cover occasionally. It does get kind of irritating when you die repeatedly and you can't help it, though.

Pah, boarding. I have yet to use a vehicle at great length. There are times when my team duel warthogs and pwns, but I find I use Duality more than ships. It's REALLY fun to blow a ship up as they're attempting to kill you in it.

I loved the story, but it ended at an awkward moment, in my opinion. (Trying not to spoil anything. If you've beat it, you'll know.)
I like the multiplayer a lot better than Halo 1, and XBL is fun, but I don't play very often due to the high amount of immature idiots on there.
