Anyone else think we didn't get anything that special? I got my hopes up for something cool, and really, some of the new skills are lame.
Especially the two last face paintings, and how they decrease my armour. I can hit with something faster, but it makes something else slower and makes me get hurt more.
And we got some skills that use power, and the skills aren't that super.
Lastly, if we're going to be able to bond to a totem, it would be nice to have more than return and affliction heal.
Some good stuff, but is it really all you stag users hoped for?

StagStomp's ok, but I also thought they might think up something else beneficial to do with totem poles.
Maybe something similar to Fury in Druidry, but with totems?

Funny how everyone will whine about changes to skillsets before they actually test them.
Unknown2004-12-06 18:26:43
Why do you assume we haven't tested them?
Richter2004-12-06 18:32:11
I tested them.
I -am- trans stag, after all.

Ethelon2004-12-06 18:48:29
heh, how long have the enw changes been in effect? By testing, I mean actually TESTING them repeatedly and makeing sure you know what you speak of. I find it hard to believe that within a day of the new changes that you have tested all of the new Stag skills and found how horrible or good they are. Test them for real and don't assume, maybe give it some time for their benefits to be shown. I didn't make that comment just for you either, there are posts made all the time immediatley after a new skill change or addition and someone will whine about how horrible it is without possibly having the time to truely test it.
Unknown2004-12-06 18:54:29
He gave a seemingly (cant say for sure, as I do not have the skills) valid reason why he didn't like them. Does he need to test and make sure everything that is stated in the AB file is correct? In theory, you shouldnt have to test them, just look at the AB, other than to see how much equilibrium and balance they take.
Unknown2004-12-06 18:55:56
Ethelon is right, you need to test your abilities to the fullest. Use every possible measure and counter measure, fight every guild with different levels then you can decide if its good or bad
Ethelon2004-12-06 19:06:08
heh, funny how the top fighters, even from other realms, are known for using tactics normally not used, taking advatage of skills, that according to some (those who ONLY read the AB file and dismiss it) suck. Ask any of the top fighters here if they test the skills they have access to before asking them to be upgraded or whining, you will find that they do and in some cases, discover an amazing use for something that at first looked like crap.
Unknown2004-12-06 19:21:10
You know, I've not actually said anything negative about the new skills.
Ethelon2004-12-06 20:53:41
My posts were directed at Richter, seeing as he was the one who started this topic.
Shiri2004-12-06 21:04:55
Yeah. Just from the AB file, even nymphs look pathetic. No cover-judging. (Id est, stagstomp is incredible )
Richter2004-12-06 21:36:26
Fine, fine, I'll post a detailed report tonight.
Rhysus2004-12-06 23:27:24
From what I've seen...Stag got much better changes than Aquamancy got, and Stag was better than Aquamancy to begin with regardless. I can't wait to see the Geomancy changes. They'll probably downgrade Chasm to put them on par with the Aquamancers then make their Myth and Trans skills slightly-less-pathetic-but-still-worthless too. Woe to us, Brothers of Mancy.
Ethelon2004-12-07 01:00:06
Richter, it will tkae more than a day or two of passive testing to find what is good, broken, and pathetic. You need to actually test scenarioes and probe each skill from every angle, which will take some time to do.
Drago2004-12-07 02:22:28
From what I saw of them, the changes look fairly good, actually.
If there's one thing I've learnt about skill changes, its to expect the worst so you'll get a pleasant suprise.
Another thing I've learnt is that you should be happy with the blessings you receive.

I am actually finding so far they are good, only two skills needing power got added, and both of those have reduced power cost once you stagform, hell Parade is free if you are stag formed. The Face Paints are nice from an RP perspective as well as being useful. I noticed a reasonable change in my Balance recovery with Swiftstripes but I hardly noticed a change in damage, but then I am trans resilience and combat. First impressions are good, but we will see what happens
Roark2004-12-07 13:11:23
I have always felt parade's affect is underrated. It does two things, while most people look at it as just one thing: it puts you on the target's ally list *and* it takes you *off* the enemy list. The uses for this are quite subtle, but when used right it can be powerful. Probably the less obvious affect of getting taken off the enemy list is more useful than getting on the ally list.

Whats the difference between these face paintings and the combat styles in knighthood?

I don't know. I didn't code it.
