A bit of a short rant:
Daganev and I were messing around with some damage last night. It turns out when I try and beat the snot out of him, I do about 150 damage per dual master mace (with 15 st) strike. He does around 1k to me.
We're both Trans resilience. We both have masterweapons. We both have the best armour we can get. I know he's Tae'dae, but... come on.
Why does he do -so- much more, and make me feel thiiiis (*holds up fingers*) big?
I'm trans -everything- combat related.
*sob*

Would you have done more damage if he hadn't had his big burly tae'dae level 3 resistances? Perhaps it wasn't just him doing more, but also you doing less than the norm.
And he makes you feel thiiiis (*holds up fingers*) big because tae'dae are the largest race, don'tcha know. 17 size, compared to just 12... on the upside, if you hang around tae'daes, you'll never look fat in comparison.
(Oops! They're equal third largest with Taurian and Orclach, I was looking at strength... they still are mighty big though, that you can't deny.)

Pfft. Igasho have size 18. And no susceptability to magick, and only level 1 slow exp. But physical resistss aren't as high.
EDIT: but yeah... trans resilience, good armour, and those level three resists will make him almost immune to physical damage.

I had this little inkling we were going to see something like this happen..
Now it's kind of tempting to reincarnate into a Tae'Dae, since I can't kill with damage anyways..
Unknown2004-12-06 19:39:16
if you can't kill with just damage then you shouldn't be a tae'dae. Tae'dae is mainly focused around physical strength and the ability to kill. their special defenses make them good but they are not great in fights where their phsycial damage can be removed

Well I meant that my damage will be even less impressive with 9 int But The extra tankiness would give me the option to use some of my alternatives.. Good times

Yeah, lvl3 resistance to cutting and blunt, fullplate armour, putrefaction, trans resilience, combat, lvl3 sipping bonus, boosted regeneration, mercy...doing 150 damage to that means you've got one hellova powerful blow. Tae'dae aren't really meant to die to physical damage I think, they should only die to instakills or whole teams of guardians beating on them with cosmicfire, people seem to think igasho are comparable with tae'dae...they aren't, tae'dae have a lvl3 sipping bonus, that makes entire worlds of difference. Tankiness: Tae'dae > all . I think it's about the coolest race of Lusternia.
Daganev2004-12-07 10:02:27
Hate to burst all your bubbles, but at the time I had a highFavour... 15% extra damage resistance, and Richters maces were pretty low on the damage end... around 120 or 115 while mine were 178 and 148.

178 damage flail? sounds familiar Daga hehe
yeah i do ok damage a few of you can attest to that, i dont hurt daganev too much, the answer is get more damage weapons, or get some knighthood mastery instakills

I realise igasho can't tank physical anywhere near like a tae'dae can... but the tae'dae have level 3 susceptability to magic, whereas igasho have level 2 resistance to magic. I know the tae'dae have a sipping bonus, but cosmics etc must hurt like all hell...
Daganev2004-12-07 12:20:26
unless I'm just oblivious (which is entirely possible) The lvl X damage bonus isn't as much as a difference as it sounds, except in tight situations.
I expect it affectivly gives me 200 more health then I would have had otherwise.

Has anyone noticed how much these racial resistances/weaknesses affect things per level exactly? I remember someone telling me once that each level was about a 10% difference, but I've never tested it.
Daganev2004-12-07 13:59:32
ok I just had a fight with murphy and he was doing between 40 and 100 damage to me with putre... so I might have not realized how handy those level resistances were. I was mostly going by bashing ability before this little fight, which by the way, was not ment to test anything other than my ability to fight without being able to heal.
And Tae'dae are only as tanky as the afflictions they aquire. When every milisecond of balance counts, its harsh. So in truth our best defence is in our ability to make you need to heal.

I got two new maces from Daganev, so that should help.
I can't wait until I'm an aslaran bonecrusher with +3st, +2 cons, basic heath/mana regen arti rings, health/mana enchants, surged for HUGE extra hp, lv2 speed bonus, lightning painted, lightning combatsyle, and, and... My god, I'm going to be huge and incredibly fast.
I'll just have to fight alongside dag if I can't beat him.

Ooh. Another Serenguard Aslaran to talk to.

We, in beta, decided it would be unstoppable.
I'd like to still think that.
