I don't follow any particular religion, though if it makes you feel better I have Jewish family...... Yet for some evil reason I have no C'Hanukkah wrapping paper to wrap their gifts in before I see them next week.....

Chag sameach! (That looks wrong, but I don't think I can get a Hebrew font to work...) My family's not very religious but I have 7 years of Jewish primary school drummed into my skull, although it's sloooowly seeping away blush.gif

"Shoshana" gave me a wee bit of a hint. *grin*

wheres the person who had the title El Chai? *eyeshift*

Chanukah wrapping paper is for Hallmark... just give them gelt like my bubby use to. 1 for each candle helps them learn math too!

oh and college was the first non jewish school I've ever been to so Nyah!

I was raised Jewish, my actual beliefs are agnostic though. I'm just an apathetic sort of guy.

Yeah, that's nice and all, but when it comes to my father I try to play it safe. Doesn't matter though. Couldn't find decent paper for Chaunkah (No suprises, this area is full of phanatical Christians) so I settled with some plain gold paper.

Actually, if it weren't for the fact that I gotta sit on a grayhound bus for 5 hours on the way there. I'd have just used plain blue tissue paper to wrap the gifts in. something tells me that wouldn't survive this trip though.

*grin* Yeah, I guess being called something in Hebrew kinda was obvious. It's mostly cause I noticed lots of Hebrew influences in the names in the histories and stuff, so I thought I'd continue the pattern biggrin.gif

Oi!

Which reminds me, I didn't get any bloody gelt this year (just a new computer case so I can finally get my desktop working again biggrin.gif (long story, the case had a short in it))

*drools over highmagic*

I remember every year my bubby would say "I'll give you one dollar for each candle we light over all of chanukah, BUT only if you can tell me how much I will give you."

For those who don't know.. the first night you light 1 candle, the second 2 up to 8 on the last night... but there is a seperate candle that you light all the other candles with! oh the mind tricks played on little children...

Although I have nothing to do with the Jewish religion, I am part Jewish - like a 16th or 32nd or something tongue.gif.

I live in a part of Philadelphia that's like 75% russian orthodox jew. There's also like 15% irish catholic, and then the rest is pretty much people either atheist or christian, both celebrating christmas. I happen to be of the former of the two, but anyway. My house is all decorated up, and there's sporadically another house all covered in lights, and my wife wanted to drive around looking at them all.

We hardly found any, and I don't know why, but I started singing the different songs from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" but replaced Who with Jew. All the jews in .. well you get the idea. It was really funny, because it was so true. :/
