Nexii and power

I am doing some research into ways of getting power at the moment.

Am I correct that the only ways of gaining power are:

i. Being a member of a City or Commune and linking to its Nexus
ii. Owning one or more Powerplex Jewels
iii. Being able to link on the Astral plane?

Replies appreciated,

Chiya

Also, it's a lot less reliable, but when someone does the Hallifax/Gaudiguch quest thingy right now, it's possible to link to the nodes there and steal their power. You've got about a half hour window before people break it and it explodes, though, maybe.

Yes and its Nexus!

It is possible for other players to give you power, as well, though that requires them to have the appropriate skill and power to give away.
Shiri2004-12-12 16:32:16
Oh yeah, there's a discipline skill for that, I think. Also, Ur'Guard and Nihilists can drain power from people.
Unknown2004-12-12 16:35:52
It's actually Nexuses, Shiro.
Unknown2004-12-12 16:36:49
whatever!

Steal our power?? *dies laughing1.gif laughing* Some people are so misinformed its hilarious. juggle.gif

Ugh... darn double posting bullcrud
Shiri2004-12-12 16:54:41
I can assume you were referring to me, because I can't see anyone else talking about stealing. If so, I was referring to stealing the nodes' power, not "yours." (Which it isn't anyway.)
Unknown2004-12-12 16:55:04
I don't think it's that funny. Maybe I just don't get it because I haven't played a Nihilist.

Anyway, the above methods sound about right.

I just posted something that made no sense here, so I'm going to try and cover it up with a clever edit. Mwuahahaha........... But add the skill in Necromancy to drain other's reserves and the skill in discipline to your list.
Shiri2004-12-12 18:09:17
There's no power draining skill in rituals. (Unless you're referring to the necromancy one.) Amissio just drains mana, not power.

EDIT: Darn, Aajen's editting is too fast for me.
Unknown2004-12-12 18:24:45
Shiri- point is its not "stealing", 'nough said.
Unknown2004-12-12 19:17:33
Actually, it's nexi.

OctopUS - octopI
Papyrus - papyrI

Etc, etc.

If it isn't nexi, then it's certainly nexus.

NOT NEXUSES.
Unknown2004-12-12 19:20:29
Ok.

HELP NEXUSES.

Goodnight Gracie.

Besides which, octopuses is actually perfectly valid. I didn't know papyrus could be pluralised though =/ What's A papyrus? Is it just a scroll of papyrus?
Unknown2004-12-12 19:36:40
I remember reading it somewhere. Papyrus plant? The papyri plants?

Octopuses is not valid. Unless you're a crazy Brit, or something.

Which, on second thought, you are.
Unknown2004-12-12 19:38:40
I thought the plural of Papyrus was Papyrus.

I too, being a Brit, say Octupuses.

And in Lusternia, it's Nexuses, not Nexi. Deal with it. tongue.gif

Yep, and by default, IRE (in most things) uses British spelling as a general rule. That's why even if you type "HELP ARMOR", the scroll will say "13.5 ARMOUR AND SHIELDS." So Nexuses is what we go by.

And octopuses, if it comes to that wink.gif
