Okay, so I have this portfolio for my psychology class.
And we've been given parts of it all semester long.
And it's due in four hours, 22 minutes.
And I started it about two hours ago.
Why? I was playing Achaea or Lusternia.
And what am I doing, now that I'm down to the wire?
I'm browsing Lusternia's forums during my spurts of writer's block.
Let the triage begin!

*tries to do Business & Economics homework in for tomorrow morning*...*fails*
I hear ya.

When you've been up till four in the morning without realising it and haven't eaten for 13 hours and have to get up at eight the next morning to go to work, and all because you've been playing/building, then you know you're in trouble.
Sad but true.
Sad but true.

I've done the 4AM stint with school starting at 8AM (with a 50 minute drive to boot), so I know that feeling. I think I've only gone six hours or so without acknowledging bodily needs, and that wasn't recently (first week playing Achaea, if I remember right). So, erm, yeah, you win.

On a side note, 1:15 remaining in the attempt to pass Psych, and I think I'll get most of it!
Would anybody like to write three paragraphs or so on each on "documented multicultural intentionality?" Writing from the perspective of a middle-class white male, what would I say about my ability to deal with women and minorities on their own terms?
Will pay in mountains of preserved Lusternian food.
No, don't ask how much food a "mountain" is. I hope I won't read this again until 15 minutes before it's due!

I'm spending maybe 6-8 days a month (argh) on Lusternia, but that's because I have nothing better to do Not 'cause I'm addicted, I swear! So that's from about 4PM, when I get home from school, to 2AM, and getting up at 8AM. I do lie in a bit at the weekends though. *hum* Even with Achaea I wasn't this addicted though

I looked at my clock last night and realized that it was nearly 2am and I had to be up at six...and this wasn't the first time it's happened. I've actually never been this obsessed with a game before!
Xavius2004-12-13 22:56:22
*starts thinking of excuses to turn in portfolio a day late*
Silvanus2004-12-13 22:59:01
Family emergency, uh... your appendix was huting and you had to run to the hospital for a CAT scan (great excuse, if you get caught you are screwed though). Uh.. hmm..

A meteorite from another solar system smashed through your roof, and unfortunantly, collided with your printer, making the ink cartridge spill all it's ink.
Unknown2004-12-13 23:15:11
You spilled your coke all over the disk you had stored your portfolio on, completely ruining it. You do have a back up, but it is in the trunk of your friend's car and you can't get it until tomorrow night when you'll be able to print everything out.
Xavius2004-12-13 23:15:57
Maybe I'll just go play Lusternia, and something will come to me.
Veonira2004-12-13 23:21:00
Arg! I managed to break off my Achaea addiction over summer. I would be around maybe an hour or two a week, if that, and only to sit and chat with friends there. Then Lusternia came out and I've been hooked, yet again, to a MUD. Right now I should be reading the Count of Monte Cristo. I have to read 450 pages by..sometime this week, and am on page 16. I'll do it eventually!
Bricriu2004-12-15 13:19:39
Veonira - that story summed up in 5 words...
Don't mess with the count.

I understand completely...
Right now, I should be doing several computer circuitry labs... I'm supposed to have seven labs done in two days. I've done 3. I also have to hand in formal lab reports for two of them. This should be an interesting week.

Ugh, try 18 hours straight of Achaean landmarking back in the day. Hour after hour of tracing over the same geographical area or butchering. I was biting people's heads off afterwards.

Oww. Closest I came to that was 10 hours straight of Star of Celest raising and 10 hours of Dairuchi influencing. 18 hours on ONE THING though, yeeeesh.
Nementh2004-12-16 01:17:01
Bah Silvanus... if you are giving them excuses, give them good ones! Gee, don't give them the ones that get them caught. They can't lie, they need to tell the truth, but leave out key details... such as 'Sorry, I have been stressed, my mother is getting an operation tomorrow.' Translation, 'Sorry, didn't do the work, and decided to do it last night, and my mother is getting a hair cut...'
Or, 'A close family member has passed away.' Translation, 'Gold fish on my desk went belly up.'

Yep...everyone's close family has a goldfish in it...

Fortunately that was only one occasion, and I did take occasional breaks to eat and stuff, but essentially nearly a whole day of it. It was an aggravating thing, but I still miss it for some reason. Butchering was the worst though. I think the longest I was able to hack that was 10 hours. After that I got sick of seeing the entire cast of Bella's Keep hauled in for butchering
