Shouting!

Well, brief idea. But how about we have all the echoey things, but with the names on? Id est, for those with recognition, instead of seeing "Shiri shouts, "Blah,"" where those without it would see "An awe-inspiring male voice shouts, "Blah,"" they would see, "The awe-inspiring voice of Shiri shouts, "Blah.""

If that makes any sense. You know, it's just kinda sad that echoes have no effect since everyone can tell who's shouting with recognition since it's like 15 lessons in. Just a thought!

(And no, the male voice was not a typo. glare.gif)

I agree.

And on a similar note, it would be nice if the level 75+ people got a different message than what they currently have. Booming, resounding, intoning and such are great to show off with if people don't have recognition, but with recognition, I rarely notice the difference between that and shouting. Maybe add a really special "echo" (in Shiri's terms wink.gif) for those that are 75+?
Shiri2004-12-17 23:11:26
Yeah, and the problem is, almost EVERYONE has recognition. Seeing as it's only 15 lessons, I know of very few people without it. (Bar the odd Seren novice that has no clue what's going on anyway.) Specially since it's en route to 30 lessons for diagnosis. I can't remember why I call it an echo, on another note. I guess that was just the tag it earnt on Achaea. Why 75 in particular, out of curiosity? Sounds like 80 should be the real limit, unless I'm confused. I thought it was the top 40, anyway.
Kaelar2004-12-17 23:12:53
In Aetolia, at least, 75 was the level where you got intoning, and I assumed it was the same here.

Quick fix - move recognition higher up in the skillset so it will be actually worth something.
Unknown2004-12-17 23:16:09
I don't have Recognition.
Shiri2004-12-17 23:16:09
Oh, I don't know Brona, I quite like it being low down. The random voices shouting always annoyed me. As for intonation...on Achaea, I'm fairly convinced it was the top 40 ranked members...perhaps 75 was just that limit on Aetolia? I could be wrong, at that.
Shamarah2004-12-17 23:17:27
Yes, on Achaea it was the top 40, on Aetolia it was anyone over level 75.
Unknown2004-12-17 23:22:57
Oh wait, my bad. I DO have discernment.
Unknown2004-12-17 23:50:47
I don't see what the argument is; You get to know whos shouting, who may insult you and you don't even need to spend alot of lessons to get it.
Unknown2004-12-17 23:57:12
I agree that even with recognition you should see the little 'shout message'. The replace the 'a' with a 'the', and maybe remove the male/female indicator.

The impressive voice of Guido shouts, "I'm level 50, kids!"

The argument is to have the echo thing so that even though we CAN hear people's voices, the effect of the echo isn't lost. It's supposed to be a cool thing for high-levelled people, but as it is about 5% of people DON'T have the ability to completely ignore it.

It needs to be higher up, but it sucked as a trans skill. The only good thing about this is that it stops people from saying, "Name, impressive/weak/timid/strong??" And then the trans people would all giggle about it.

Solution: Put it at master. *beg Roark*

I say take Imperian's route and remove them alltogether. People rarely shout anything but inane nonsense.
Eldanien2004-12-18 04:02:12
Sounds good. While you're at it, make public posts cost 10k or some other larger amount.

Please, please?
Unknown2004-12-18 12:37:25
If you don't want to read public posts, don't read them. But it's a way for players to ICly communicate - argue, agree, come to decisions, inform the world about changes that affect them, for Gods to impart their wisdom. It's all good.

CONFIG NEWSIGNORE PUBLIC should do the trick, hmm
