This isn't a complaint, hence not putting it in the idiots forum- I'm just curious: Where does the idea that all viscanti have bat wings come from? From the helpfile it sounds like only people descended from trills would have wings, and it's not like they're useable, and yet almost every viscanti I've looked at has them. I'd love to see a viscanti that's descended from one of the anthropomorphic races or something, have some creativity!
Kaervas2004-12-19 11:32:17
Nihilists actually do have bat wings, chances are that most of the Viscanti you've seen with that in their description are Nihilists.
Shoshana2004-12-19 14:56:32
... That would make sense, thanks

Celestines have Angelic wings sooo o.o
Nika2004-12-19 15:11:12
My Viscanti's got hooves and horns! *squeal*
Oi, I really should go to bed...

He is a fiendish master viscanti and is tall and slender, standing like a monument to his distinct race. Grey and mottled scales grow along his body, and two tiny nubs point out of his skull. Tiny pinpricks of black glare out from under his hooded brow, and his body is notable for its distinct lack of hair. Taut muscles are visible through his clothing, and his chest heaves as he breathes.

Ooh! Ooh! We should have a viscanti fashion show in Creative Arts now!
Silvanus2004-12-19 18:20:01
Silvanus' wings came from his family once being a trill, but were tainted back in the Taint Wars and have become what he is now. His wings are very angelic, like Celestians' wings, but they are pitch black.
Unknown2004-12-19 18:21:15
I don't think it strange. The Taint has mutantagenic properties, so even if you didn't have wings beforehand, it's not outrageous to say you sprouted demonic ones when you were Tainted.
Drago2004-12-19 22:56:37
Viscanti aren't meant to be demons. Its one of the only bad things I could see about them, that you'd get a lot of people roleplaying Viscanti as being Demons.
Viscanit aren't demons, Nihilists aren't demons.
Nihilists have demonic wings, sure, that's why I've got them in my description, but Viscanti aren't, and shouldn't be roleplayed as, demons.

Nobody said they were demons. But Viscanti were mutated horribly by the Taint. So it's plausible that some might have sprouted extra limbs, like more legs or wings, perhaps?
Bricriu2004-12-20 01:09:50
It all depends.
Some of us are more tame - I play a Trill-origin viscanti, in that she has feathery red wings, but other than that, is very humanoid, alot like a dark elf is seen as, I suppose....minus the pointed ears.
Then, you have others like Mary, who get really creative - you should look at her sometime!

Lucidian-based Viscanti.
Unknown2004-12-20 04:54:47
Angelic wings are so much cooler then those nasty bat wings!
Nayl2004-12-20 05:08:55
I play a Faeling based Viscanti, with little Fae wings, and small stature.
But it really does annoy me to tears when I see Novices walking around with wings, I'm just like...Keh?

I actually kind of figured that there would be a decent many Viscanti with wings, so I took a different route and didn't have them. Heh, well anyways my two main race choices at the beginning had been either Dracnari or Viscanti, so I settled on a Viscanti with Dracnari characteristics.
Hazar2004-12-21 23:44:53
QUOTE
Generally, they are of a demonic appearance though some viscanti retain vestigial characteristics of other races, such as wings of trills (though bat-like and ineffective for flying) or pointed ears of the elfen.
So there. They're all justified.
Isn't the plural of trill trill? I'd think so.
Nika2004-12-22 01:20:46
Yeah, Shoshana did say that.. only there seems to be a lot more trill-based Viscanti (going from the number with wings) than there proportionally ought to be. There wouldn't have been that many trill around Magnagora when it was Tainted (*point Hallifax*) to justify this many non-Nihilist batwinged people.
But eh. *shrug* Let them do what they want as long as they colour inside the lines.

I always knew we trill were special. Y'see, the ones with Trill heritage are just more naturally adventurous. Them wingless viscanti stay out of guilds, out in the slums.
