Ever have those days where that Mage cuts you off on the highway? Then your enchantments go FUBAR...Then you run out of vitae, and power. Yeah, Lusternia sometimes puts you in the same rut as life.
Sometimes its no real reason why, other times there are lots of reasons.
Personally, Akraasiel is bumming me out because there is nothing really to do until Gaudiguch is completed so we can release it. I feel like every day I log in and do nothing. Just sit around and bum around. Im considering taking a trip into the mountains for a while until its a bit closer to the release date. Its not like I have any other objectives that I can work on until then. I can't do any more research into Dracnoris until I get a city to live in so I can keep my every day life stable.
Combat's also pissin me off, I came with the thought that I might be able to learn to fight manually, but now that people are beginning to develop systems thats become a pipe dream. Looks like Im gonna have to get another client and make a system too...and I was looking forward to manual combat. I hate being a knight now too...I swing swords...thats all I do. I dont get any cool overpowered things like tarot combos that let me totally screw up my opponent in a single round, I dont get any awesome ents that keep hittin em while I attack...bah. And tradeskills? Eh the Markets so damn saturated with underpriced crap that in order to sell to the those who are buying you have to sell herbs at like 5 per because there are so many people givin em away for FREE.
How bout y'all? Is your life in Lusternia not everything its cracked up to be? Lets hear it. Feel free to let it all out. Nobody here will be taking any of this ICly, so just let it roll.

I agree, ever since Silvanus got kicked out of Magnagora (2) I've done nothing but sit in Fain's Fulcrux. I don't even weant to move to do anything.

Same complaints as you, Akraasiel, except for one thing:
I have no skills to speak of.
Also, a while back I was killed by Alger for being an enemy of the ur'Guard, which I found immensely stupid. I had no skills. I was no threat to the ur'Guard. But he felt the need to kill me just the same.
I've decided not to play until Gaudiguch comes around.

The Gods already said "don't get your hopes up about new cities yet, we only just started"
And then you get your hopes up.
And then you get your hopes up.
Shiri2004-12-21 22:08:28
So can you not do the Gaudiguch quest anymore? Does it just not work, or what?
Akraasiel2004-12-21 22:10:42
We can do it, but it serves no real purpose until the cities are built. Its just a time eater.
Richter2004-12-21 22:11:05
Looks like Visaeris, Aris, Akraasiel, Silvanus, and I are all somewhat burned out. Some will sit it out, some will make alts, and some will tough it out.
Personally, once I got a world map, the game got a lot better (thanks thorgal). I'd like to say we need something to spice it up, but what more could we ask for? Lusternia is still the best of the IRE games.
Any ideas anyone?

Aren't those quests what will get the cities built? I thought it was something like, if the nodes are drained to nothing...*squint*

Same feelings as you.
I still have a city and all, but I honestly can't wait for Glomdoring or one of the new cities to come out. Combat was fun for a while, but it's gotten so common that it's actually boring, and every other matchup is the same because the archetypes are so similar.
All I really do is log on, bash for a while, offer, and maybe stand around at the Megalith hoping something interesting will happen. If I had any sort of status in my city, or the will to work towards any sort of status (I'll be happy to work for it in Glomdoring/Hallifax, but Magnagora is kind of meh lately), it might be different.
Edit: Meh, that was more of a rant than I intended it to be. It's not that Lusternia is boring, but I constantly think that I could be having -more- fun if I were involved with one of the new cities or something. Granted, I could always go and help support one, IG it's too costly and risky for something that I don't even know will be around in the remote future.
Also, in reply to Cuber's post below this. Sure, hanging out in the tavern or something can be fun, but it's really not how I perceive Kaelar to be. Besides, if you take certain Magnagorans to the tavern, you're not going to get much RP done. *mutters about certain Magnagorans who can't EVER stay IC*

The answer to these problems is simple: do some RPing, it's a roleplaying game after all. Find a non-stupid person from other city/commune and try to persuade them that theirs place is stupider/weaker/worse then yours, go to a tavern with friends (even Magnagorans have them, so I've heard) and get dead drunk or talk about what you did lately from an IC perspective (it wasn't bashing, it was a heroic mission to protect poor dwarven villages from an army of rockeaters...). Maybe you could even try...

Strange, I don't sell herbs really low. I know of quite a lot who sell at lower prices but still I sell lots of herbs every day, so maybe some people are doing something wrong.
As I mentioned in another thread, some here want too much too early. Give things time to develop.

I've reduced my experiences in Lusternia to a study of game theory mechanics. It's about the only thing keeping me going anymore. All the props in the world to the Divine making this happen, but the more I play the more I feel like we shouldn't even be Live yet. Combat for the most part is an exercise in futility; one group throws its highest damage attacks at another group until one is dead and then they hold the highground for a while until enough people log on to make it interesting again. People from Magnagora exchange phone numbers so they can call each other up whenever they need people around to stage a raid or defend a village, and I'm not willing to go to those same extremes for the sake of competition, so we struggle along in the hopes of a turn of fortune we didn't expect.
I've lost hope in the viability of any true saddle points, as recent events have shown that coalitions don't necessarily lend themselves to strategies of any greater efficacy, and the degree of dependence on interpersonal relations, while beautifully designed, often fails to adequately provide for the populace given that the ultimate basis lies mired in the conflict generated directly by village influence, which is also entirely dependent on the combat prowess of those involved (which is unfortunate. It had so much more potential.) The power system also feels forced in most instances. I barely ever use power, other than powerstones, but I know people who use tons of it. So I know a lot of people feel a dependence on the power of their nexus, even if they don't necessarily need to feel that way. But it seems as though, as with everything else in the world, power is ultimately mired in the ability to kill those who wish to take power -away- from you. So, whether you want to be a merchant, a questor, a politician, or...basically any role that has any effect on the world in any way...you've got to either BE or DEPEND DIRECTLY UPON the best combatants around.
And that's boring me to tears.

True... one of the best times ever in Aetolia was with Dunkins, Lamar, and I, chillin out in that music wagon, with the gods taking over that troll guy. Then I started to pass out leafy greenness and glasses of bubbly.

Silvanus2004-12-21 23:14:53
I've found myself, in the past two weeks, spending more time on Aetolia then Lusternia. If you wish to know why, you can ask me why, btu I'm not crazy, just....

Kaelar2004-12-21 23:17:12
Bah, I'll still take Lusternia over any other IRE game, any day.
Shiri2004-12-21 23:20:21
*highfive Kaelar* Darn straight. Lusternia > Other IRE > Everything else. Clearly.
