We should have instruments, so we can play neato tunes!
Erm, they should have a command PLAY ON INSTRUMENT which could work just like an emote. Possibly have a skill called peformance, and has different categories of songs. You can submit them, like patterns. They would do nothing practical, but be really neat to do. Yeah.

I'd buy that for a sovereign. Would there be a specialization for each family of instruments (woodwinds, etc.), or would everything be covered under an umbrella skill?

*ponder*
Either you could play list of songs for each instrument you had the skill, you could play each instrument with the songs for which you had the skill, or each instrument would have its own skill rank and list of songs...
Ooer, good idea Mary.

Hell yes! I've submitted some patterns for instruments... I want jewelers to be able to craft beautiful heirlooms like harps!
Edit: And tailors can make drums! Don't know about cooks though... maybe a lollipop whistle?

It'd be fun if skilled composers could create sheet music and conduct a choir or orchestra...you wouldn't be spammed into oblivion because everyone would speak/play as one (ideally, anyway...hope you practiced). Great for special occasions!

Instruments and music would be awesome, although it would make me sad to have to spend credits on learning to play an instrument that's for nothing but RP. Maybe have it work on time spent practicing? Easy to abuse with triggers, but since it doesn't really do anything but a special emote, it wouldn't be such a problem.

I still have a design for a violin that I always wanted Richter to have. I was going to have Someone in beta make it, but They were too busy. *shrug*

You could also put together bands, like.
ASK RICHTER JOIN BAND
-
Richter agrees, and becomes part of your band!
-
ASK KAELAR JOIN BAND
-
Kaelar agrees, and becomes part of your band!
BAND
Currently in your musical band are the following people:
Cronus, (bagpipes)
Richter, (violin)
Kaelar, (lyre)
-
BANDPLAY ON INSTRUMENT
You get ready to play The Trill Rendition on your bagpipes, and wait for your comrades to prepare
-
(Richter and Kaelar both type BANDPLAY ON INSTRUMENT)
-
Your band fully prepared, you begin to play the Trill Rendition on your instruments.
-----------
If you could compose, (i.e, a Composer, maybe a trade skill?), you could write sheets of music, which each member of a band would have to have in their inventory to play, (or just the one person, if he's playing solo.) The sheet of music would basically dictate what the song would be like, as in what messages the audience gets.
