I have a Broadsword that's 145/155/181, and I plan on sticking the Puissant Knight rune on it (so I'll never be parted with my beautiful sword). For those that don't know, this rune gives +5 to all three stats. Problem is, you need a 463 stat sword for it to be runed, and my sword has 481 combined stats, which means I have to shave off 18 stats. Any suggestions on what to clip off? I'm not Trans Combat, nor will I be for a long time, so I can't just super-blast to-hit.

The help file for regeneration items in defensive artifacts (HELP
ARTIFACTS DEFENSE) includes a little more information.
For forging, there is a skill called 'temper' which will reduce a weapon
statistic by one point in order to prepare them for Great Runes.

if the purpose of your rune is to that your sword does not decay... then shave 6 points from each stat. You'll get 5 of them back.

I was thinking maybe shave a bit more to-hit than the other two? So I could have like....an uber 186 speed weapon .
Unknown2004-12-23 17:07:33
I don't think speed is as important in Lusternia as it is in the other IRE games, but if you want 186 speed, you could make it 139/143/181 (6 from damage, 12 from to-hit).
Maedhros2004-12-23 17:09:40
That's what I've been trying to get to....I'm still pretty newbie at Lusternian weapons stats (still used to Achaea where speed was teh omgwtfbbq), so I'm trying to find input from some more experienced players.

I think it would make more sense to get the wound damage rune, considering you'll be losing out on stat points with the other one.
Unknown2004-12-23 17:36:24
You can get both runes, heck you can get all three runes if you want, its just expensive. At the lowest level of rune, no matter what you will be loosing out slightly on stats. If you took it all off of speed (which is what I would do, personally) you would end up with a 150/160/168 sword. Not too bad, I think. Any of the other runes would leave it at a lower level (145/155/163). But, it wouldn't reset, and you could save up for th Vernal Knight rune, and get a 160/170/178 sword and have 5% wounding or so.

Makes perfect sense.

You can't place any rune on a sword with higher combined stats than 463, wound, stat nor elemental. Best first rune for a sword is the puissant knight one, so ya don't lose too many stat points, and it's cheap.
I'd shave it to 140/155/168, so after placing the rune, your sword will be at 145/160/173...if you add forge runes, it's 155/170/183...not all too bad I'd say.
Kaervas2004-12-23 18:49:17
Ahh I thought that only applied to the stat rune, I stand corrected.
Maedhros2004-12-23 18:51:39
Bah, I wish I knew speed was so crappy in Lusternia; I threw out a 189/15x/131 Broadsword cause I thought it was too slow.
Maedhros2004-12-23 18:52:23
Oh and, I don't have a billion credits, so the only runes I can consider are the level 1 ones.

It IS too slow...
Maedhros2004-12-23 21:10:24
Oh ok. Glad I didn't make a deathly mistake that would haunt me the rest of my life. Anyways, I think I'll end up shaving something like 5 hit, 5 damage and 8 speed, maybe just 5 hit and 13 speed.
