Searching in the stores, I can't find it. But on the net, it says FFXI was due to be released in the UK in September 2004.
So is it released yet here, either for PC or PS2? If not, does anyone know the -real- respective due dates?

Well, I just checked www.gamefaqs.com, which is almost always reliable (it's never been wrong for me before), and the PC version was out on the 17th September, the PS2 version ain't out yet.
I've not looked though, so I couldn't say for sure. Damn Squaresoft (I refuse to count Enix, it sucks ) for making it one of those stupid pay-MMOGs. I'm poor darnit. Now I have to wait for FFXII.

Nooo, I don't want the PC version, (not seen it in shops, in any case). Any idea when the PS2 version is scheduled to be released?

Sorry, I didn't mean "not out yet," I meant "not announced yet." It says, "TBA", which I assume means "to be announced." Hard luck.

The PC version is out, but the PS2 version isn't out until sometime next year, can't find a date anywhere, so it's not definate. (Can't even find the game to pre-order)
But according to play.com Final Fantasy XII is out 01/03/2005, the link is below

Yep, 12 will be out soon. Rest assured I'll be getting that. I just hope I'll have actually completed 5 and 6, and maybe 4 before then.

Seriously, Iggy, you do want the PC version. I played FFXI for about a year.... never again. If you do start, though, Iggy, play on Phoenix server and look for the linkshell called ClanBOB.... the linkpearl is a light brown color.

I'll make a note of it. Although, I'd need a world pass, since you can't pick your server without one.

Seems like you enjoy the FF series as well. I don't mean to sound like a wet blanket, but I hope you know that FFXI is very different from the others. (I actually meant that in a disappointed way )
But if you'd really like to give it a shot, I strongly recommend that you at least play with some friends who have the same playing schedule as you (preferably exactly 5 friends who like to play different roles).
Otherwise, try to join the server with the highest population of players in the same timezone as you. (This is most likely the newest server, as newer players are added to the least occupied server first.)

Eh.. as an experience FFXI player you SERIOUSLY do need a static party, otherwise you're screwed later on in the game. Do your research too, though most jobs are good. If you'd like I can post a detailed description for each, but I took a lot of player hate playing as a monk.
Don't play on Midgardsormr. High prices!

Too bad that most of the people on my AIM and MSN won't buy FFXI. They'd prefer World of Warcraft, meh.
If nobody I know from the UK gets it, then I'll just have to join temporary parties.

I guess it won't be so bad if you intend to play a mage. But if you want to play any of the physical melee jobs....
