I wrote this two years ago, just dug it up. Originally wrote it to submit for a Bard out-of-novicehood requirement in Achaea (so it's Achaea based) for my alt, but never decided to do it. It won't win any bardic events, but I think it's a good bit of fun.

Late at night, I emerge from my hole,
Not knowing this trip would ring a heavy toll.
I wind down the streets, winding with ease,
Seeking out a piece of cheese.

Alas! Woe is me,
For at that moment, I happened to see,
An Achaean! With his eye out for rats,
How I wish our only worries were cats.

He gives chase, hungry for gold,
I run for the hundredth time; this is getting old.
Annoying Achaeans, just let me be,
My carcass is worth a meager fee.

Those worthless ratmen, I wish they would die,
Or lust after another rodent; why me, why?
Nearing my hole, this is the tricky part,
But suddenly, I feel steel through my heart.

Next thing I know, I see a bright light,
Wait, this can’t be – it isn’t right.
I must be dead, there’s no doubt about that,
But why me? I’m just a baby rat.

I like It!!!! It really puts you in the shoes of the rat and shows some of the brutality that a lot of us show on a regular basis. It makes me want to create a rat protection league!

It's sad. I'm going to cry.

Now I might write a Funnies log about how the rats take over the Basin. That poem was just too cool.
