I actually got this idea as i discovered the command SPARWHO on which one's name only appears if the command has been used at least once.
Actually , when using Cwho, we get a list of player's names randomly sorted with more or less usefull information.
What i'm suggesting is to add a new column in the Who list, next to the city rank column, that could be used as freely as another would use a title with the same success. In this column would appear the tag chosen by a player. This tag would be informal and volatile but only visible by those who would use a command such as CWHO TAG, per instance.
What the tag would be, is only limited by the number of letters available. It could be IDLE, QUESTING or FORGER, ENCHANTER HERBALIST or any other crazy kind of other things.
Of course, everyone's name would be sorted by their tag.
Its other use would be to help in hiring quickly and knowing who belongs to a group of defence for the city or for a village then dismantling it as quickly .. or knowing who is attending at a meeting..

Interesting, but I think it'd be abused by people who would put either retarded or offensive things in their tag. But interesting nevertheless - could even help with finding bashing partners or just people to talk and/or RP with.
Daganev2005-01-06 22:11:32
Not a bad idea... a 8 charachter tag.
Shiri2005-01-06 22:12:44
I don't know about this, but it would certainly be good to have different ways to scan this. I want to have something to sort all my allies up to the top of it.
Daganev2005-01-06 22:18:09
If you want specialized sorting and stuff, use Zmud or some similar program that lets you see whatever you want to see on your screen.
But giving people tags so the city knows whos busy and who isn't would be very handy.

Stop telling me to do that! Some people simply CAN'T use those programs, due to having to work at school/lunchbreak on the job/whatever.

And as for me, I have Zmud, ALClient (painful) and a bunch of other programs on my hard disc, but I still use the java client. Why? 'cause it looks the best.

Damn straight! >_< (Oh, and Maedhros, in case you come out with one of your snarky stories again, it was Daganev's fault this time )
EDIT: Fear not, Blastron. Munsia is gone, never to return (please) to our fair commune.

It's a good idea, but for the sake a realism, I don't think it's possible...on CWHO. Maybe when you abjure window or farscout someone, you can see it. So it'd be like...
"Blahblahblah opening a window, you see Etanru at The Pool of Stars. He is talking."
"Blahblahblah opening a window, you see Etanru at The Pool of Stars. He is sleeping."

I like it, but it should have preset choices. Otherwise, people would just put dumb things. You could choose from trade, activities, status, that kind thing.
Richter2005-01-06 22:59:27
Munsia left?
Daganev2005-01-06 23:08:24
If you restrict it to 8 charachters it would be be realitivly harmless, and if someone put something stupid you can just have them change it or disfavour them. You really don't have to make it that complicated, it would just be a handy tag that people in your city can use to inform people in what way they are busy, or what trade skill they have.

Better. Gregori kicked her out. Security risk and all that, you know. (Plus the whole "infuriating" business, but he had an even MORE valid reason.
Daganev2005-01-06 23:42:13
and yet she is selling alchemy potions....
Unknown2005-01-07 16:35:01
Back on topic, damn you!
And yes, there would only be so many possible settings you could have, like Trading, Talking, Thinking, Hunting (NOT BASHING). Everyone would have to kept strictly IC. I don't want to have things that are like 'HALO 2!!!!'

I agree this is a good idea. In Elendor, the Tolkien Mush I play, you can set whatever you want, and if you put something lewd or dumb, you get banned from the game. It is fun to see what everyone else writes, and its fun to have something you can use to express yourself. I could go with preset choices too, but it would be nice if undersecretaries and secretaries, etc rest of guild leadership had a busy sort of tag for GWHO saying not to talk to them or something.

YES. VERY YES.
