to make it short: Why can't gnt always be heard? No matter what plane you are on, or who is speaking.
The channel is for Novices to ask questions, but how can i help them if i don't hear them?

Then the planar skills wouldnt make sense ic and people would take advantage of using gnt. But it is funny communicating with people with tells and messages.

On GNT, you tell them to read GHELP (insert name here) and HELP (insert name here) and generally speak at a somehwat ooc level helping them along. Explain to me why it should follow IC rules when you tell them to read help files.

I always seem to think of the help files as IC because it's stuck in my mind as a help scroll. And I understand what you mean with the planes but most of the time someone will be there to answer the questions if you aren't.

Because, Silvanus. Inept fools, who's names often begin with an 'S' 'H' and end with a -iro, would use the channel to talk across planes. Meaning someone only Elemgate in planar could alert all of the bashers on Astral that there's a raid on suchandsuch.
People would simply abuse it. S'why it's not gonna happen.

The are a lot of pros and cons for my question. I didn't list them down on purpose.. maybe that was wrong.
I hunt Astral a lot and i don't have aetherwave or broadcast, so when i see that a new Novice joined i can't greet them or anything. Considering that i am a Novice aide that's not fun.
Sure, i can MSG them, but unless they have some IRE experience they'll be even more confused and probably won't even know who to read them.
So yes, -some- people might think of abusing the channel, but i think if you threaten them with GDFs if the misuse the channel repeadly, that should solve that problem.
Thing is, i'm on at times where few people of my guild are. And i'm often enough the only Novice Aide present, so if i can't greet them no one will.
If you are the concerned about misuse, then maybe make it so that only Novice aides and higher ranked guild members will -always- be heard on that one channel and will always hear Novices.
