I doubt it'll come any time soon, but something has really been nagging at me.

What if you have a bunch of gold in your Great House's bank account and suddenly, a few people leave and your family is no longer a Great House. You lose your bank account, if what I read is correct, but what happens to the money?
Daganev2005-01-09 21:10:55
To only slightly hijack this thread....

First, I think the money would just go to the person who ownes the family.

Now for my rant.

Why is it, that when a mud gives people a great history of famous families and the opportunity to make a great house, the people with all the money and populartiy and power make up a name that nobody has ever seen before, while the people who come up with the best history and culture for the great Historical house, end up being people who hae like 5 friends that nobody cares about?

I'm specifically talking about magnagora here, because that city and the village of Ankgrag and I think Aknor have all these people from Famous families that have great interaction with eachother. And yet the people who each own 3 clans just for themselves, (meaning they have spent over 1,500,000 gold for fun) Have absolutly no intrest in bringing any of those families back to life.

Why is that!?

Realisticaly there will never be any legitimate greathouses unless the current 50 member requirement is reduced to 20 or so. But I dont think the admins care too much about the formation of greathouses anyhow.

Even if the player base doubled to an adverage of 200 players at peak times there would only be maybe one or two greathouses and inbreeding would be rampant as 50% of the world would belong to these houses, which would be pretty funny.

With 50 as a requirement Im sure the only way you'll see a greathouse under the current system and player base numbers is if some bozo or group of bozos create alts just for the purpose of boosting family numbers. If 25 people each made an alt...BING!, theres 50.

Most people have one or two alts they made to experiment with or try a new class or whatever and its not unrealistic that they just roll these low end alts into the family name for purposes of padding the numbers out to 50.

Erion's sister on Achaea is Beldaran. Maybe I should make her commere. *evil*
Shiri2005-01-09 21:45:02
Beldaran already did play here, but she left now. tongue.gif
Erion2005-01-09 21:45:38
I know, Shiri. But I don't know who she told, so I was more meaning the coming back. biggrin.gif
Daganev2005-01-09 21:46:16
HOw large is the Aetolia player base? the Karamazovs had over 100 members last I was there.
Silvanus2005-01-09 21:48:34
I'd rather not see so many Great Houses. It is a Great House.
Erion2005-01-09 21:50:07
I'd like to see a few, though. Especially ones from the history.
Daganev2005-01-09 21:53:20
I don't care if some houses become great or not, but I would like to see the players who have the gold, friends, and proper RP allready established to discover that they really belong to one of the historical families and have them roleplay that out with other people in other historical families.

I don't know about Celest or Serenwilde, but there is allready a relationship and way that the families of Magnagora treat eachother.
Unknown2005-01-09 21:57:00
I don't think the Flagg family is ever even going to reach the level of 'Kinda small'. Olan decided to go inactive, as far as I can tell tongue.gif Get on so we can finish the Bloodbond, man!
Unknown2005-01-09 21:58:20
Rexali belongs to a historic family, but that won't be known until Hallifax returns wink.gif
Erion2005-01-09 21:59:36
Actually, Daganev. Etanru, Galvadore, Marlow and myself are, as we speak, working on the long process of creating and designing the Ladantine family. This includes a history and a long list of family noteables, and the relation to Ladantine and the royal family. It will be a Merian only family, keeping the bloodline pure, it will be an attempt to RP a relatively strict, no-nonsense, yet no absolute allegiance family, allowing Merians that aren't in Celest to join, etc etc. But we're still in the design stages.
Unknown2005-01-09 23:43:27
That's great. I do remember, on the flip side of daganev's pro-historic-family argument, that someone ranted before about the same thing you were doing, Erion.

It would be great to see historic families played out, as long as those who play them don't waste it.
Daganev2005-01-09 23:53:55
Yeah, I would hope that those who create these historic families would have a group of atleast 5 active players before doing it with an official clan. Nothing is worse than a great opportunity wasted because 1 or 2 players have to stop playing.

Does the Landatine family have another family which they would be in conflict with or atleast in cohesion with?

What gave me this idea was during the time Magnagora was building the Necromantate, each of these charachters like Snaiika i'Xiia and d'Murani would shout at eachother when the next phase was completed. Like Snaikka would say. "The Necromantate would be up by now if its wasn't for the d'Murani laziness" and the d'Murani would say "If House i'Xiia would just produce more poteent elixirs my job wouldn't be so hard"

I just imagined players doing that alos on a much larger scale. I think it would be fun for everyone involved and those watching.

Maedhros2005-01-10 00:48:50
Join the Tedrani family! Coming soon dry.gif.
Unknown2005-01-10 00:53:32
You will have great houses in about 5-10 years in Lusternia
Shiri2005-01-10 00:54:39
I like how the things that encourage people to be Elfen, Merian, or Viscanti mesh so well with this. (It does leave us poor Furrikin and so forth on the side a little screwed over, but whatev.)
Maedhros2005-01-10 00:55:20
If I had one credit for every post Shiri makes....
