A change of career?

I'd like to suggest something. For all the Magnagoran's who are demanding Serenwilder skills be changed because they are too overpowered, I would like to invite you to come and join us for a couple of years, and show us how a real champion can use our unbalanced might to explosive success.

Show us how easily we can accomplish our goals and dominate when we have an experienced combatant teamed with our unstoppable abilities. I think this would really convince the Divine that we need fixing fast.

Note that we aren't as accepting of turncoats, unfortunately, so you may have to move your soul into a new body, and we do actually demand you follow our ways and values - but what a small price to pay for so many godlike skills!

Just think, spores, flow, wisp, entities, rage, burst, totems... aren't you just drooling with envy?

Sign up today! Go Wilde! cool.gif

You know, Valek was really tempted to do just that. Because plain and simple, he could destroy the world as a Hartstone.
Elryn2005-01-10 09:44:13
Why didn't he? It would make your argument more than hundreds of posts that complain about it.
Unknown2005-01-10 09:46:12
Wait, it is Harstone now that could destroy the world? I always thought it was the Moondancers.

Hah, I noticed that too. biggrin.gif
Daganev2005-01-10 12:33:21
In closed Beta it was harstone, but nobody competant was in harstone so people complained about the same skills minus the demense that were used by Moondancers.

And I think Valek doesn't switch to Hartstone because nobody would give him the time of day.
Flow2005-01-10 13:12:01
..Valek doesn't destroy the world already?
Auseklis2005-01-10 13:39:28
I'm very amused by this topic. I think it's a very valid question/point.
Melanchthon2005-01-10 14:37:13
If, in order to receive balance, the playerbase need create alts for the sole purpose of whoring skills into mediocrity, then the world that playerbase inhabits has lost its objectivity.
Flow2005-01-10 15:29:30
That makes a whole lot of sense:

Downgrade their skills!!!
*Is given a chance to do so*
Well, it would be boring..

Isn't Jelaludin Valek's alt? He's obviously someone's attempt at trying to prove that Magi are overpowered. Whose?

I agree with Melanchthon on this one. I know how I'd feel if someone told me that if I was going to criticise the brokenness of ghost, or horrible shieldstun repetition, or whatever else, I had to buy 900 credits and tritrans a guild who could use it, as well as levelling enough to get the health to claim I could fight decently with them...

It just isn't fair to have to do that.

Jelaludin is entirely new to Lusternia, he came over from Imperian (and achaea, and aetolia) just a few days ago. Had he been Valek's alt, he would have to be an artist in using two keyboards simultaneously to conversate with himself...not to mention being shrubbed for multiplaying.

Frankly that sums it up - I can pretty much guarantee that if I had an omnitrans character in virtually any guild and spent the time with Valek, Daevos or Jelaludin (these examples used because I know they are good teachers) to learn how to fight I would be virtually unstoppable if not completely unstoppable. Unfortunately about that time reality starts knocking and I remember that I am currently inbetween jobs and can't afford to buy thousands of credits, spend 8+ hours a day learning how to fight and code again to be able to be considered on par to the Tier 1 fighters if I want to be able to afford to put food on my table and live in a place with a roof and four walls.

Thank you Amaru for saying that. I laughed so hard that I leaned back on my chair, the chair fell apart and i ripped a gash in the back of my head (thats okay though - now I get to play "doped up on painkillers with enough bandaged to make a turban wrapped around my skull").

1) Jelaludin is nobodies alt.
2) He is nobodys attempt at trying to prove the Magi are overpowered.
3) The reason that Jelaludin is playing is because he was convinced to come over by a few friends.
4) If you were on any other IRE game and one of Jelaludin's characters walked into a room with you, you would fall flat on your face and start grovelling in the hopes he wouldn't rip your head off and play ping pong with it.

That is all.

I actually wanted to join Serenwilde originally after reading the story, but Valek is the one who got me to play and I can't start out playing against the guy who invited me over and helped me get started tongue.gif

Not to mention that he does things that I doubt Valek would ever do. Let's create an aggressive demesne and attack everybody just outside of an enemy village, gain Suspect on those who can kill us, pray, return, and repeat. But each time, we'll unenemy the people who can kill us so that our demesne doesn't take away their Suspect status. Then we'll recreate our demesne and kill their citymates in front of them. Oh, and if they so much as ohmy.gif poke us, we'll ISSUE for Avenger abuse (while continuing to kill/demesne just outside their village)! Erk.

Someone's mad that their exploit to have aggressive pets follow someone they're suspect of is being taken out tongue.gif

Your buddies wouldn't have died if they hadn't gone out repeatedly to try and kill me instead of just waiting for me to enter the place I was enemied from.

Actually, the pet wasn't aggressive, as I explained when replying to your issue.

Oh, and for future reference -- If you walk into enemy territory and are summoned and killed therein, that isn't an exploit either, so you might not want to issue for it.

Maybe your character is a good fighter, but who is going to respect any skill that he may have when you initiate aggressive actions, then use the Avenger system and issues as your own personal tools?

I could be wrong, but isn't this why Achaea ended up with PK laws that, in the process of trying to cover all bases, end up rendering PK unviable?

Unless you want to ruin Lusternia in the same way, why not use some common sense?

It doubt you had the guts to actually enter the village itself when that would have removed your access to the Avenger and the issues that you're so fond of.

But I could be wrong.

Actually, this is kind of ironic. We're forbidden to summon people from 1 room outside of enemy territory because we're supposed to go out and attack instead of relying on city/commune defenses. This would be an example of where the arguments supporting that rule break down.

If I hadn't (and I did just that and ended up dying to guards which you conveniently forget =) then I would have ended up just sitting out there doing nothing and there would have been no problems.

In summary, cry me a river laugh.gif

Then why were you ordering it to follow me, and why was it attacking me? Unless the ethereals are lying to me it's being taken out so your feeble attempts at half truths are useless.
