Actually, this idea might never be viable, because it hits very close to the current tradeskills like tailoring and jewellery. Maybe in the very very distant future...
Like the snowball skill, I like to see more scope in some of the skills in Arts:
Like Glassblowing would be a good thingy: Blowing glass into shapes of beauty.
Or Woodcrafting or Masonry (ideas from Imperian really). Even Ironcraft can be used.
It might be worthwhile looking into this when Housing gets imp'd because lots of people would like sexy items in their houses.

Glasswork, woodwork, ironcraft are all already availible in Arts. They allow you to create various things with those skills. If you want to be able to make more items with the skills, then idea for there to be more items in each of those skills, we don't need trade skills that do the same thing as Arts skill though.

The Arts skills are stupid. You can only make certain pre-assigned items. I am talking about works of actual art.
Metalwork can imply making a standing suit of armour or a fantastic iron sculpture.
Glasswork can make glass wrens or beatifully wrought flowers.
Woodcrafting can make beds with intricate bedpiece carvings.
And so on and so forth.

that can be done in the Arts skillset, much like statues and portraits are created from the Arts skillset. The basic skills are there, as with making pictures and statues, so i don't see how hard it would be to add those abilities to the Arts skillset.
