Long ago the Serenguard were having a little riddle-writing contest just for fun, but it seems to have been forgotten and lost since then; I've asked a few times recently and no one answered, so I assume it's dead. I'd written a riddle I was pretty happy with, so I figured, might as well post it here and try to get a riddle thread going with it.
If each person posts the answer to the previous riddle, then adds a riddle of their own, we should make a nice fun little thread. Just don't scroll to the next post until you've solved the riddle, or risk being spoiled for the answer. Let's make sure all the riddles are IC, please, something a Lusternian could write or answer.
Here's mine:
Alone I triumph, but do not fight,
with stealthy, swift, and silent flight;
my foe pursues with deadly hate
and learns he is the prey, too late.
If no one can figure it out, I'll post the answer, but I bet someone will.

Sounds like what I intended for myself. So, ego says... Guido!
Gwylifar2005-01-16 05:49:32
Just in case it's not obvious, no, the answer isn't Guido.
Ialie2005-01-16 08:06:33
Is.. it.. Death?
Gwylifar2005-01-17 00:09:28
No, it's more specific than that. I wish we had a
tag here, but as we don't, I'll just skip down some lines to post the answer in case anyone wants to "skip to the end". I didn't think it was that hard, really...
Answer: Shanth of the Quiet Mind. He was the only Vernal God to defeat a Soulless God by himself; hence, the double meaning of the first three words. He was known for being swift, and silent. He achieved his victory not by fighting, but by getting the Soulless God to chase him, into a trap.

You'd make an excellent gambler.30492
Okay, so who's going to post the next riddle, it's too late for me to think up of one...
Gwylifar2005-01-19 14:33:33
Boy, I was really hoping someone else would contribute one.

When I rage, the moon turns red.
When I am called, I answer with a loud crack,
if I am used on you, you will have bled,
Enemies of the Forest beware.
This is REALLY easy for any person of the Wilde and especially any Moondancer *peer* I couldn't think of anythign else, and wanted to add one to keep the thread going.

A Hartstoner's cudgel? It causes a lot of bleeding... anyway, here's another one. It would normall suck, but I wrote it, so it rules.
My ego,
Like a delicate basketball of lace,
Inflates,
But touch it too hard,
And burst it shall.
Who am I?

The skill Killer Moon.
Shiri2005-01-20 01:31:13
Well, if Guido's allowed to post non-Lusternian ones with basketballs, I will too.
"King Khalzol's kingdom is long gone,
Take 4 steps to the site of his grave.
The first is to think over.
The second lies on men's thoughts.
The third is a single object.
The fourth is a keep against all offense.
Why did Khalzol's subjects bury him in a copper coffin?"
EDIT: Actually, that could be taken as IC..very...liberally... Anyway, the skill's Rage, not Killer Moon. But I don't think it's that, there's no cracking involved. *G*

get attacked with it.
Gwylifar2005-01-20 23:22:13
Bah, Lusternian IC riddles only, please. They don't have to rhyme or scan, they just have to be Lusternian.
Here's another one I just made up, much easier than the first:
Do you sleep or are you awake?
Either way I'll eat your dreams.
All around this misty lake
Lovers' sighs and victims' screams.

Dream leech? Damn things. Stop regenerating when I hit you for more damage than I did in the first place!
(Sorry about the riddle, I thought it was okay if Guido did it. )
