Okay, I was wondering if any of you visit vgmix.com. If you've never heard of it, its a community of people who remix (I don't like using that word) video game music. The remixes end up as all different types of music, rock, orchestral, techno, rap, etc...
I've belonged to the community for a bout a year now and I finally have two releases, I'm just interested to see if anyone else belongs to that community, basically looking for fellow remixers smile.gif

Also I see alot of fans of Final Fantasy about, there is a huge collection of really well done Squaresoft remixes there.

No, but now that I know, I'm sure heading there. I love all the FF remixes.

*drifts off to a time when he was listening to the tehcno-ish version of the FFVII boss music, while fighting Diamond Weapon, and beat it right as the victory music started up*

I don't know the first thing about mixing, but I can sure appreciate good music.

My personal favorite FF remix there is Amor Mio, Caro Bene, its one of the first songs on the Stuff of Legends release. I always wanted to hear the opera music from FF6 with actual orchestration and opera singing.

Oh yeah, and just to add, some people here are exceptionally talented, these songs are often really amazing renditions of their crappy 8-bit counterparts.

Hrm, interesting! I'd only been aware of OCRemix, an equally awesome site. I'll go check it in a minute, I'd gotten tired of scanning through Gendou's anime music trying to find the good stuff. *bounce*

Is that site different than the DBZ episode remixes to songs such as "excuse me while I burst into flames"? (best music video ever)
Fain2005-01-17 20:01:16
Huh? I have no idea what you are talking about Daganev.
Just check the site out and see:

Also, OCREMIX is cool, but I like VGMIX because the submission requirements are less strict, and also there is more variety in the types of music, OC seems to just have alot of techno remixes.

Someone has good taste. biggrin.gif

I once heard a ten or twenty minute full version of that, complete with the italian lyrics. That scene from FFVI was real fun to play, and it gets stuck in your head.

Also, I have really good remixes of Terra's theme (FFVI), To Zanarkand (FFX), and Still More Fighting (FFVII). I'd love to download more of it, but I'd also love to have more than dial up...

I used to check out OCREMIX a lot for the Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger ones.

It is Final Fantasy THREE, not SIX. This is not JAPAN.

It is Final Fantasy SIX, not THREE. This is not AMERICA.

Since the re-release of every final fantasy but one of them, in the US, we're going by Japan's numbering system, as the hardcore fans always have. We can't have two 3's now, can we?
Daganev2005-01-18 01:23:58
Yes the site has nothing to do with what I was talking about.

To explain, some 3 years ago, my friend showed me these DBZ movies (dragon ball Z) that you could get off of kazaa. The movies tended to be remixes of anime episodes, (they also had some Cowboy bepop ones*) so my favorite example was the song that has the lyrics "pardon me while I burst into flames" and they had a bunch of clips from DBZ where people would be powering up and such... it was very entertaining.

*the Cowboy bepop one I saw, was done to Wierd Al's "Something in the fridge" and used the space fungus episode, it was classic. or was the song "just eat it"? I have a semi good memmory.

Hehe, those are called AMVs, or Anime Music Videos, and there are lots and lots and lots and lots of them, especially at animemusicvideos.org. My favourites would be the Cowboy Bebop one to a song that goes "We are the pirates who don't do anything" and a Full Metal Panic one to that "Stuck in the Middle with You" song, except sung by an accapella group called Da Vinci's Notebook. And I haven't seen either anime!

Hadn't heard of this website before, thanks Fain! Did you hear about some orchestras over in the US doing proper concerts with the FF music? Not sure which game(s) it was though....
Shiri2005-01-18 12:48:36
*poke* Shoshana, you HAVE to see cowboy bebop. One of the better ones out there, I find.
