I've noticed my village influencing experiences to go like this...
1. I say to myself, everyone here is either on my victim or bully list, I'll walk around on my own.
2. All my victims get together in a huge group and walk in and flatten me before I know what's happening.
3. These people then say to themselves, hmm, everyone here is either on my victim or bully list, I'll walk around on my own.
4. I come in with my group and flatten them.
Repeat until village is influenced... the nature of the village influence system encourages people to move around on their own, yet the avenger system prevents a decisive battle that will let the winners move free of danger from taking place.
I think the admin should experiment with having the avenger not apply to uninfluenced villages because they're warzones. I would guess then that the various groups would get together, battle royal, winners greater pentagram and demesne the entrance and wala.
Sanctuary could be redone to a system where each village can send in up to say 3 'diplomats' that are immune to pk and can influence only. Those who won the big battle would still have a hefty advantage, but the other side would have a small chance if their influences do a good job, or their influencers could buy the side that lost time to counterattack. It wouldn't be possible to teleport to a diplomat, though they could drop their diplomat status and be teleported to at the risk of course of getting stomped on.

Prime was never and is still not intended to be open slather for killing. In any circumstance, as far as I know. If you want to kill on the prime plane you have to weigh it up with the risks and benefits. I LIKE that there is a chance I might not be attacked by the few people on my avenger list.

Well, with sanctuary and crusade put in, I'm wondering if the Avenger does need to apply to villages. It seems wholly unnecessary, when sanctuary allows you to escape PK already.

Estarra pretty clearly said in the last thread about this, Influencing does NOT require PK. It's the players that choose to make it the way it is.

Right, I've always said that Val. But sanctuary already gives the option to completely avoid PK. It doesn't feel right to have two options. The concept of crusade/sanctuary just feels plain funny when combined with the Avenger. They sort of contradict.

Village influencing does not require pk? When was the last time you were involved in a village influencing?
The point is, the avenger system is creating more pk in uinfluenced villages I think, not less.

That's an old (much-repeated) point and not as applicable in the Crusade/Sanctuary system.
Crusade is faster because it is riskier. If I wanted to abuse the Avenger system, I would simply let people kill me until I gained Suspect on all of them, then proceed to influence in Crusade mode. I would have all the benefits of Crusade mode, while the Avenger grants me the near-equivalent safety of Sanctuary mode.
And guess what - Suspect lasts for 30 days. Since the people involved in influencing general remain the same from village to village, I could Crusade through multiple villages before needing to die again.

It's more accurate to say, some of the players choose to make it the way it is, and the rest are stuck with it. That's why Avenger exists -- to give the rest at least some chance to choose for themselves some of the time. It's no different in influencing than in anything else on Prime.

I think this is a very apt observation of the current system.
Sanctuaries are already safe rooms, so the Avenger system cannot apply there.
Crusading areas should be open PK.
Areas without an active sanctuary or crusade occuring should receive full Avenger protection.
I believe this would address most of the concerns.
