Which guild's role do you appreciate the most?

I'm rather curious to see who the populace thinks is doing a good job so that we can all work to better the world in which we are all playacting in.

Personally, I think the Moondancer Guild is doing very well from what I can tell and I believe that can be attributed to Lisaera and Her Order's overactive hand in their leadership.

I don't really hear much from alot of the guilds, but I hear that the Serenguard are making progress as well. Surprisingly. no one really discusses Celest guild politics with me.

I think it helps a lot that the Guardians/Wiccans got dealt the strongest hand when it comes to RPability, because they seem to be in charge of the city's morality (you know...angels, demons, faeries) whereas the mages and druids just do odd jobs and warriors kill people. So I'm voting Moondancers, second choice Celestines.

Whoever votes Aquamancer, I will poke until they change it.

I'd really like if people would back up their votes with a verbal response as the point of this poll is to point out what people do and do not like in current guild RP styles.

I vote for the Nihilists because they have been doing what they were created to do.
Silvanus2005-01-19 22:06:53
I voted for the Ur'guard because, they are the only guild inside of Magnagora (don't know much about the politics of other guilds) that I believe do what they were supposed to do. From what Nihilists tell me, a lot of people are not doing their jobs, and the Geomancers, well I'll just point to Yrael.
Unknown2005-01-19 22:35:25
Rogues, of course!

Me, Erion, Visaeris, and for awhile Richter and the Evil Twins (Yuniko + Yukari). The list goes on. I've always found rogues to be the most interesting people, perhaps to balance out their complete lack of actual playability. Anyone who willingly takes up the most discouraged and disadvantaged role available, or is forced into it but sticks with it, deserves a big... emote. Like so: biggrin.gif

Why thank you Guido, that is really kind.

I voted for ur'guard as well... we do exactly what we are told to do and save for a short time in our history, have kept pretty close together.

I must say though, I'm fairly dissapointed in the Nihilists Inducting and kicking out policies... they seem to make little sense to the role of being the Priests of Nil... I have the feeling its getting this reputation of.. Well the ur'guard don't want me, the Geomancers don't want me... guess I'll go for nihilists they semm to let everyone in.

And I think the geomancers suffer from a lack of people do to them being the ones who can't eat dead things.

edit: I would have thought the nihilists would be the hardest guild to get into, then geomancers then ur'guard.

Rouge Celestine..

Moondancers.

I think we fill our history fairly well and act fairly closely in accordance with how we would be expected. To be fair Lisaera is our matron (or something:P) so it is fairly natural for her to hold influence over us.

I think the guild that needs the most help is the paladins. It isn't there fault just not enough numbers.
Shiri2005-01-19 22:47:39
Aquamancers need more help. They have less members than the Paladins, if nothing else. (There's only like...three prominent active ones? Rhysus and Shamarah? Maybe Althana too.)

Praise from Caesar? I detect a hint of sarcasm.

Anyway, in terms of actual, tangiable guilds, i'd have to say Serenguard. They are the most reasonable and intelligent of all the Serenwilde guilds, save for a few select idiots, and i've found them the... least disagreeable of all of the commune. Plus they have the highest concentration of speach-impaired bears; whoo!
Shamarah2005-01-19 23:58:50
I voted Nihilists, mostly just due to their involvement in making the tainted fae thing go. And because they're good baddies. (Err... yeah. You get my point.)

As for the Aquamancers, yeah, we're not really doing much of anything right now. But I've just contested Mistie as GM, so if I win, hopefully I can spur the guild into doing more stuff.

Ur'guard, for me. They seem pretty nifty overall, and have some real crackers.

ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE ROGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

NOT ROUGE! NOT NOT NOT ROUGE!!1!!!!11!!11one!1

And, I agree with Guido. Rogues do tend to be some of the better RPers, simply because they don't have shit for skills (Especially rogue guardians, who have pretty much two entirely useless skillsets).

And the first Rogue Celestine to make a name for himself is the greatest one evar. Far better than the second.

I actually voted for the Paladins. This is all subjective, but to me, the general Paladin role is something of a cross between spirituality and combat prowess, with an emphasis on chivalry, honor, and such.

As an example of the spiritual side -- Someone (Jerah?) setup various pilgrimages to places and beings that the paladin guild held sacred. Dumihru once accompanied Rafael on one pilgrimage to Celestia to recite an oath before Methrenton (the Crusader) and place his blade in the holy forge to be tempered. It was really cool to watch, even as an outsider to the guild.

There was also at least one pilgrimage involving Spectre Isle, to visit the ancestors of New Celest (not to mention that the paladin guild fountain is one of the most interesting and beautiful objects I've seen yet, in-game). I don't really remember the details of this one, except that I think Val jumped us somewhere along the way.

I don't have specific examples of roleplay of personal characteristics. From my interactions with various paladins, I've just gained a general feeling that they've valued honor and ability in combat. Oh no wait, here's one (courtesy of Murphy) -- http://lusternia.ire-community.com/index.p...ic=716&hl=honor

I voted for the Serenguard, because there is some very interesting inter-guild roleplay that occurs, and is being planned. I also LOVE the intrigue that goes on between the Moondancers and the Serenguard, they have this whole unspoken conflict that they constantly oppose each other, it keeps everyone on their toes.

People undervalue the role of all the Knight guilds, they provide just as interesting and enriching a role as the Guardians, or the Mages. What really gets my blood boiling is when people think that the only good roleplay comes from Guardians.

Wha? Why? That must have developed after I left.
