would it be acceptable if one was gone from the realms for a long time, and out in the tainted wilderness, that their features might become distorted? For example, if a dwarf was in the taint long enough, they would perhaps somewhat resemble a cross between a goblin and a dwarf? Being small, with greenish gray skin, a larger nose and ears, but with the body build of a dwarf and all the hair?

over generations that makes sense, but I don't think a single charachter in the period of 10 years that the game might have been around would be able to do that without magic and power.
Unknown2005-01-24 23:44:47
There are no goblins in Lusternia.

*Nod me*

But anyway, i'm sure a few years in a heavily tainted environment could cause a handful of physical changes. Wrinkled and discolored flesh, odd hair loss and growth, ect.

we should have goblins as a race.....................
Gol2005-01-25 00:30:57
Actually, since my character lurks inside Magnagora and on spectre isle almost all of the time, I had his desc change over a few IG years. He is igasho, but heavily changed - Since he also tends to spend alot of time around the megalith, I guessed it would speed up the change.
Shiri2005-01-25 00:31:25
They're not in the history or anything though...=/

THe next god that comes around can always bring a new race with him. I think we are due for a darker patron.
Daganev2005-01-25 00:44:37
I take back what I said... after further research, the modern taint has just as much transformation power as older taint, its just not as objectivly destructive.
Unknown2005-01-25 01:02:50
eh....i just got a thing for the unseelie races. Orclach are kinda trollish, and tainted orclach are...well...orcs. I'd just like to see some goblins and gremlins play a darker counterpart to some of the other races. We have the small furrikin, so the equally small imp would be nice. for th efaeling, how about the gremlin, who is a fast and nimble. Then we go tthe dwarves and my favorite unseelie, the loud, hilarious goblins.
Daganev2005-01-25 01:58:57
I don't think Lusternia needs more races.
Unknown2005-01-25 02:02:58
never have too many. i know a mud that's got over 50. makes choosing damn hard.
Unknown2005-01-25 02:14:18
I dislike the idea of having equal opposites for everything. Just because we have Furrikin does not need we need little tainted races to match, IMO. Just becomes far too predictable and linear.
Unknown2005-01-25 02:25:47
Please, do NOT add Goblins or Orcs to the game. It's so typical, and so far, I've really enjoyed that Lusternia is almost entirely original.
Erion2005-01-25 02:48:41
Add imps as a tainted playable race, an equivalent to Faelings!
Unknown2005-01-25 02:51:00
yeah, that's what im thinking.

Please don't, it smells of thoughtlessness.
Daganev2005-01-25 06:12:54
If you want each player to be a seperate race and not have this great aspect to the game we have, such as most people are either elfen, merian or viscanti, then sure add more races. But if you want a dynamic world that makes sense, Lusternia needs anything BUT more races, IMO
Erion2005-01-25 06:22:30
I think more tainted races *are* needed, for those of us choosing to RP a tainted pure-blood. I mean, elsewise, Viscanti'll be the pick o' the week for specialization races.
Daganev2005-01-25 06:24:57
viscanti are the all the tainted races though...

The viscanti are unlike most of the other races because they did not
originate from the fragmentation of an Elder God. Rather, the viscanti
came into being as victims of the Taint at the time of the Fall of the
Celestine Empire. The viscanti were originally members of the other
native Lusternian races who were directly caught in the Taint and whose
forms became twisted, just as the land became twisted. Through years of
interbreeding, they have become recognized as a race unto themselves.
Generally, they are of a demonic appearance though some viscanti retain
vestigial characteristics of other races, such as wings of trills (though
bat-like and ineffective for flying) or pointed ears of the elfen. The
greater viscanti have the ability to breathe poison gas. Although most
reside in the Magnagora and neighboring tainted land, a few viscanti have
been known to become "reformed" and live in other civilized areas.
Shiri2005-01-25 12:59:07
Just be diverse when you're picking viscanti subtypes, I guess. Like Furrikin. You don't see us asking for extra races for foxfolk furrikin and bearfolk (tae'kin) and all the rest of it, now do you? (Granted, like 9 out of 10 of us are foxfolk...biggrin.gif)
