Not sure where to post this, so I thought I'd try here. A lot of people have asked me to post it, though I expect even more people will be entirely disinterested.
Today is the 16th of Urlachmar, 109 years after the Coming of Estarra.
The phase of the moon is that of the Waxing Crescent.
Over pool and stream.
The sound of trickling water leads to this area of forest, sheltered by young pine trees. A clear stream of water falls down from the northwest over stone and rock into a small pool below. The water then continues to flow into a small stream leading southeast beneath the trees. Around the water's edge are clustered long grasses and reeds, some bent and trailing into the small pond. Fronds of aquatic plants trail beneath the pool's surface. Both air and water smell sweet and fresh. Reaching up as high as the eye can see looms the awesome presence of a living totem.
Priestess Brylle Silverleaf, Devotee of the Mother picks up Cutiepie and, holding him in front of her mouth, croaks out, "Iiii aaam soo exciiited".

Priestess Brylle Silverleaf, Devotee of the Mother says, "May the place of this rite be consecrated to the Great Spirits, for we gather here in a ritual of love with two who would be wedded. Out of two comes a family; out of the family comes the tribe; out of the tribe comes sterngth and purpose, love and duty, honor and beauty, renewal and hope. The tribe gives to us ourselves, and we return the gift."
Priestess Brylle Silverleaf, Devotee of the Mother says, "Gwylifar and Irrylia, please come forward and stand here before us, and before the Great Spirits."
Gwylifar steps forward from the crowd to stand before Lady Brylle.

Priestess Brylle Silverleaf, Devotee of the Mother says, "Be with us here, Mother Moon. With your healing light, give these two the shining love and compassion of your eternal glow."

Gwylifar gently places his right paw atop Irryllia's paw.
Priestess Brylle Silverleaf, Devotee of the Mother says, "Above you are the stars; below you are the stones. As time does pass, remember, like a star your love be constant; like a stone your love be firm. Be close, but not too close; possess one another, but be understanding. Share the hunt as you share all things; give the best to the other, but take the best for yourself as well, for you each are the strength of the other. Have patience each with the other, for storms will come, but they will go quickly. Be free in the giving of affection and warmth; make love often, and be sensuous with one another. Have no fear and let not the ways or words of the unenlightened and the tainted give you unease, for the Great Spirits are with you, now and always."
Gwylifar nods his head in agreement.
Irryllia nods her head emphatically.

Taken from an actual Wiccan wedding ceremony.
Gwylifar2005-01-31 18:14:49
About half of the text is lifted from a Wiccan handfasting. But throughout, woven into just about every chunk of text, are things I changed to suit Serenwilde philosophy and the Great Spirits, or aslaran customs. There's only about four or five sentences that aren't at least somewhat tweaked.
That "stars and stones" line is entirely not mine, though, and I love it. I did change most of the rest of the paragraph, though.
The original I was going from called on the four elements, and I left those in, but I downplayed them in favor of Brother Hart and Mother Moon, and thus had to change the wording on the element ones not to duplicate what I'd written for Hart and Moon. My favorite touch in the whole thing is drawing down the moon when we call Mother Moon, and bonding the spirit of Stag when we call Brother Hart. It was so worth ten power to buy the appropriateness of that.
And of course, Cutiepie's lines are all directly lifted from the mating rituals of the famous Speaking Frogs of Eastern Dahomey.

Addendum: this is the version of the rite I stole from was inspired by.
Lunarisiil2005-01-31 18:48:20
It's a lot like the ceremony that I wrote for the Moondancer ceremony. I think we looked at the same ceremony, heh.

Sorry I missed it.
Unknown2005-02-01 11:23:11
This is very beautiful.
Malicia2005-03-31 10:13:30
That's the first time I've ever seen that. *sway* Lovely ceremony.

I was there (It was in my good days) and it was lovely. Congratulations again to you two.
