Looking over the various city enemy lists its getting pretty funny. Basically everybody is enemied to every other city if you so much as participated in a village influencing session.

Id like to see city enemy status broken into three categories.

Normal enemy status ENEMY would decay in one game year from date of eneming unless re-enemied. This would clean up the enemy lists of people who are no longer around, petty criminals or nuisance players who have reformed and just needed a smack to get em in line.

Second class would be the fine category where the FINE ENEMY would be used. This would be a public list any player can look over in the same format as the citylog with a VIEW ENEMYLIST command that would list who was enemied and what the fine would be to unenemy themselves.

Enemy status with a fine would still last a minimum of one year regardless of how quickly the fine was paid but would continue past one year till indefinitly until the fine was paid with the PAY FINE command. Which would auto remove them from the enemy list and deposit the gold into the cities coffers with a line being added into the city log that so and so paid their fine.

Third class would be PERMAENEMY this would put a person permantly on the enemy list and the enemied person would have to talk to the cities council members to get this type of enemy status removed.

Id like to see these classes installed because as is the enemy status system just promotes more conflict. Why NOT just go all out warfare when enemy status is used as an excuse to attack?

Ravin was enemying anybody for even dismantling one room of his Dem, he enemied over 30 which from my Mag chars point of view was pretty funny but thats 30 more people who are forced to fight against Mag who Im sure half of which wouldnt have even given Magnagora any problems if they werent so enemy happy.

Not a bad idea actually. Kind of like Divine favor and disfavor, as there are multiple stages of it.

From a cities perspective this allows for crime to fit punishment and for policy to be enacted based on a cities world view.

Enemying people who participate in an influence session would be fine and useful for the duration of the conflict but after the village is out of contest you dont really want 25-40 more enemies permantly on the cities enemy list, this is a headache to manage and most people just dont care enough to try and unenemy themselves so overtime everybody is hostile to everybody else which is great for PK'rs but forces most non-hostile players to either fight or go find another mud because once your enemied its another person in play for the PK'rs to hunt when bored.

Cities could permaenemy everybody but this at least would more accuratly reflect their world view of total hostility. If they wanted to generate gold then more fine based enemy status's could be given out.

For influencing the enemy status that lasted a single year would be more appropriate as it allows you to have your statues affect them for the duration of the contest which is really what your attempting to do anyhow without the constant updating and managing of the cities enemy list.

Automating it would help alot in identifying true long term enemies of a city or organization vs the one time offender who you want to punish but not make a mortal enemy of long term.

I love Magnagora but when the PK'rs enemy everybody in sight for any screwball reason just to get statue or guard effects on them its another person who works against Magnagora and pushes them further into irrelevance. When you realize the lunatics are going to enemy you regardless of your actions and keep you an enemy any forgivness or negotiation goes out the window.

If your going to be a permenate enemy why not be a permenate nuisance? They are going to hunt you anyhow so instead of forgiving and forgetting the person begins to activly work against the city that enemied them, no reason not to at that point.

With various levels of enemy status in place it will allow a city or organization an opportunity to determine how hostile they want to be to the world and how hostile they expect to be treated in return.

*kick Revan* I'm not exactly happy, either. I've been trying to keep records on enemies for a long time now, fines, how long, what for, etc....and his lame reason 'Crime against the Taint' doesn't exactly tell me what the hell they did, so I can judge where to go from there.

oooh, I like this idea, I've wanted it for ages across the various muds.

When I was security minister of Hashan I set up a whole website forum and book just for this sort of thing. Same was done by someone when I was Shallam Sultan in aetolia.

I agree. This is a good idea.

... whether we can code it or not anytime soon, however...

Keeping track of enemies -> date of enemying and listed reason would be superb in itself. Currently all of the names are stored anyway, just maintain a database.

Being a Minister of Security in Achaea was hell because there were something like 600 people on the enemy list with no reason in existance, and whom nobody could remember. When one of them demanded to know what their crime was however many hundred IC years ago..... quickexit.gif
