o Special: Upon gaining the Crow or Night specialization, an elfen becomes a Tainted Elfen, with statistics changing by +3 strength, +2 constitution, +1 intelligence, -3 charisma, and +1 size. The also gain the following:
o Regenerate health and mana while in tainted forest environments, Level 3.
o Heal more slowly from elixirs, level 1.
o Immune from poison gas.

OMG CAN MINE BE A DRIDER?! WE NEED A DIVINE NAMED LLOTH, LOL!

Ahem, sorry, lost control. Anyway, there's a rough sketch for those crazy Glomdoring kids.

I still think Orclach should have something funky there. Or something. Not Elfen though.
Unknown2005-02-02 23:36:37
Well Brennan and Rowena are/were both Elfen, and I assume most of the other inhabitants of the Glorina were as well. All the Orclach were busy crusading about with Emperor Deadguy.
Shiri2005-02-02 23:37:45
That's true, but we already have too many Elfen that get an advantage from being in a place. Diversity! (Okay, Orclach are maybe not good, but something else, anyway.)
Richter2005-02-02 23:43:11
If they were Drow, thier dex would go up too. *sagenod*

They should also have racial night, levitate and faerie fire spells *twiddle*
Faethan2005-02-03 01:32:05
I like the Orclach idea. If they got a good enough upgrade in stats, they could be useful. Just to review Dark Elfen would have:

Strength : 14 Dexterity : 13 Constitution: 13
Intelligence: 15 Charisma : 12 Size : 12
o Have a racial language, Elfen.
o Regenerate health and mana while in forest environments, Level 1.
o Regenerate health and mana while in tainted forest environments, Level 3.
o Heal more slowly from elixirs, level 1.
o Immune from poison gas.
o Gain experience more slowly, level 1.

I'm inclined to think that its a bit much, being at or above average (12) in every single stat plus level 3 environment regen with only slow healing and slow xp, both level 1.

I think it'd be cooler to have two types of Orclach or some other race.

with no class modifiers it would be fine, or with a class modifier of -4 strength +4 int for wiccans and druids and +2 str and +3 con, -4 int for warriors.

I agree that is a bit much as well. No other class has both high strength and intelligence coupled with more than average constitution. A measily level 1 healing penalty is a joke considering the kind of stats you'll be getting. Either the strength has to go, or the constitution be reduced, otherwise you'd have the best Guardian/Mage race of all of them.
Akraasiel2005-02-03 03:14:19
The dracnari have 14 str 14 int 15 con and 14 size, but then we have a level 2 sip loss.
Unknown2005-02-03 03:38:04
I made the regen bonus level 3 because the only time it will be in effect is while in the Glomdoring or if a part of the Serenwilde is tainted.

Another possibility for it would be to have level 1 regen in taint, level 1 in forest, and level 2 in tainted forest...

Edit; Oh, and I forgot to mention that in my original plan up there the Level 1 Forest regen would be removed.
Unknown2005-02-03 05:13:10
Well, what about some sort of Taint-Druid? Wouldn't they be able to make demesnes of tainted forest?
Silvanus2005-02-03 05:24:33
Someone want to explain to me why the Orclach would be the main race of Glomdoring? That makes no sense basing on the histories. The Orclach were centered around the Shallach and the Shallach Portals. It would be a tainted Elfen type thing for Glomdoring.

Don't elfen already regenerate health and mana in forest wether is tainted or not?
Atmos2005-02-03 18:18:53
People need to stop doing this kind of thing. It's making me very impatient.

Slightly more on topic, I can't really see any other race being Glomdoring's main race. Definitely not Orclach, anyway.
Shiri2005-02-03 18:26:24
Mehhh, well, a new race then. We don't need more Elfen, that's my point. I -know- Brennan and Rowena are Elfen, so maybe it makes SENSE, but I still don't want to see Elfen all over again, something more original could stand to be done (also to stop the Elfen race pwning too much). I mean, Magnagorans got Viscanti instead of just some "tainted merian" thing...
Unknown2005-02-03 18:56:13
Tainted Elfen makes perfect sense. So nyah! Faeling should get wicca specialization bonuses though..
Shiri2005-02-03 18:58:11
Yes, it does make sense, but it's not original etc., and there are already enough Elfen as is, and blarhhh. tongue.gif
Nyla2005-02-03 19:22:35
Make Faeling the Glomdoring race! Well at least for the druids and wiccans, but the warrior race could be Aslaran.
Faethan2005-02-03 19:36:19
I agree with Shiri. Elfen do make the most sense, but I think it'd be more interesting from a game mechanic standpoint to use a different race. We've got enough Elfen as it is.
Unknown2005-02-04 04:48:53
Aslaran are Ackleberry, if anything, and Faeling are part of all three forests, from what I can tell.
