The idea behind the EXP system is as follows:
Exp gained and lossed from PvP combat would be adjusted according to the situation.
1. Deaths occuring on Non-prime planes will be the same as they were before the recent EXP changes, with a slight gain of EXP for people who kill others.
2.If a player is killed on prime or any other place, EXP loss is the same as it is now.
3. If a player kills another player on Prime, outside of a village or city/commune, no exp would be gained for that kill.
4. Combat in villages or city/commune would have "normal" exp gain and loss, while the outer planes would have an increased amount of EXP gain.
Discuss.
This is stolen from the Karma thread, and the Primebond thread, with added tweaks from various comments.

when you vote no, please say why.

Just though I should add my agreement to this.
Faethan2005-02-04 03:16:20
I vote no because it motivates people to run. I'm in a village, I get attacked, am I going to stay and fight or run away? Obviously run away because if I do get killed, my attacker will gain nothing and if I get outside the village there's a decent chance they won't want to waste the herbs to fight if they don't get anything.
Daganev2005-02-04 03:20:01
interesting... I wouldn't think that much thought would go into running away.
Ofcourse, to me, the reason for attacking someone who is raiding your village is to stop the raid, more than any other reason... but I guess I'm just a wacko like that.

Faethan2005-02-04 03:27:55
Well there's still that reasoning, but considering how much complaining I see about people being able to escape (be it spores, catacombs, whatever) I don't like the idea of making running a better plan than it is.
Daganev2005-02-04 03:29:35
I think the reason people run is because they are going to lose exp, thier defences, and time, not to stop the other person from gaining exp.
Faethan2005-02-04 03:32:43
Yes, and that would still be the main reason, this would just give more motivation. Makes running away all the more attractive.

I voted no because with this system, it legitimizes killings in villages where most of the quests are located. It makes anyone entering villages a fair game. So you can run a few rooms to the highway, making the kill worthless to the aggressor, but you will probably be hunted down and killed anyway.

You say that as if it doesn't happen already.

If you are a known enemy going into their villages, of course you will be attacked. I dont know about other people, but I am not an enemy of Mag and I go to Ankrag and other villages all the time to quest or shop for comms and I have not been jumped on Prime once since after the war.
