Quite simple really:

Works for me.

Why not just have them disappear when the room is flooded/tainted?

That room was already flooded/tainted. Why not be able to chop them down?
Bricriu2005-02-04 22:10:45
I don't see them dropping from a little water or taint.

Chop, however, should be able to cut down those darned dryad tree's. ANYONE can use chop, if they learn it.

What would happen if you are in the tree as it is chopped down?
Shiri2005-02-04 22:13:41
You'd come and break your legs, but you've got more than enough warning, since it takes a few chops to take down a tree, and a magical tree would be a little more resilient, I'd figure.
Elryn2005-02-04 22:20:34
How long does chopping down a tree take? If its fast, I'd hope that the dryad at least does something awful to the chopper.

7-12 swings

Ok... and being able to spiritbond tree with dryads would be really good too. *hum*

Yea this is a good idea. Although I do find it amusing when I see them floating around in the oceans.
Gwylifar2005-02-05 22:56:44
It makes sense, they should be choppable. But maybe the tree, since it's also a dryad and thus a little more sapient than the usual, could fight back a tiny bit. Not enough to really hurt any but the littlest folk, just enough to make sense.
Shiri2005-02-05 22:58:31
Like banshee damage, but sans mana drain.
Vix2005-02-06 02:35:53
You have to remember that the dryad tree is actually a fae and I don't think she'd just stand there and let you chop her down. She'd probably fight back with branches or dropping fruit on your head as that's her tree. It'd be like someone running to your house and trying to chop it down.
eirene2005-02-06 02:37:23
how do those dryads pop up anyways?

Moondancer comes in the room, does FAESUMMON DRYAD, *poof* dryad.
Karielle2005-02-06 04:54:02
I consider dryad trees to be more or less sentient (as much as any of the other fae), so even if they root in a room or somesuch, it would make sense for them to move when they're being chopped down, for a limited number of rooms, then start retaliating. My impression of dryads are that they're pretty much pacifist, so they maybe they should first try to flee, then fight back with branches/dropped fruit when there's no choice. And if they can be chopped down, the summoner should be informed, the same way you're informed when someone kills a loyal.

But I don't know, I personally think dryads are one of the odder fae. blink.gif

My two (non)cents.

I may fight back, but I'll still go down if they keep at it. Make 'chop' the only possible attack on them.
Daganev2005-02-06 15:16:07
if Dryads are fae like any other, let people attack them like any other, if they are just trees, let people chop them down!
