Okay so last semester this boy died from drinking to much at big little night at his fraternity. Everybody in the city is in an uproar so the university President decides something must be done. So basically what happens is that he creates all these rules that only affect fraternities and basically give them the raw end of the deal.
Here is the kicker of all the new rules though. If I recieve any alcohol related ticket it gets put on my record at the University. It can be on or OFF campus. After three violations you are suspended for a semester and have to recieve counsuling(?). This sucks cause we have a public intoxication law in Oklahoma which basically says you cant be drunk in public or they can arrest you.(There is also a law by which I can be fined for 'swearing' in public too)
Now I am of legal age to drink and all, but I really think this is far too much just because one kid drank himself to death.

My school tried to do something like that and was threatened with law suits and had to remove the policy. Give it a try!

Can't you be drunk in public in Oklahoma?
The only place I know in my country where you can't be drunk in public is along the esplanade of Sumner beach (a few blocks away from me). And that's mainly becuase of boy-racers (also 40kmph speed limit).

Oh, and the esplanade is that straight line heading to the left (and down a bit) of that dominant rock in my signature.
eirene2005-02-06 02:59:25
that does seem pretty excessive.
Nementh2005-02-06 03:41:00
No point whining about it, learn something from it. Its not hard to NOT get drunk. If you have to drink to have fun, then you have problems because being drunk is not fun...
But oh well, people whine about everything...

I find that if one kid drank himself to death, there are 100 other kids who are getting drunk enough to cause damage and annoy people in the area.

W00t! Today I found out that here in New Zealand, you are legally allowed to drink alcohol if you are underage, as long as you are under the supervision of your parents.

Heh, I'm familiar with the law, but seriously, let's examine this for a moment. After THREE violations, they suspend you. If someone's in violation three times, they need a swift kick in the head.
Daganev2005-02-06 15:01:24
but... but... Theres atleast -4- good parties a year!
Unknown2005-02-06 15:23:18
I doubt he would be the only one who would kill himself from drinking, if nothing was doned. There's alot of stupid people within the world, only a few who can drink like they should.
Daganev2005-02-06 15:25:54
Yeah, most people drink way to few drinks. I mean, only 4 beers and 2 long island iceteas? Wusses, all of them! And for some reason they are never willing to wash that down with a nice Merlot.

I used to be able to get drunk and cartwheels in the my fraternity parkling lot in my boxers while the police watched and laughed. But now I get interrogated for accidentally walking into a lamp post while talking on my cell phone. My whole beef is if it takes place off campus the university shouldnt have anything to say about it.

*blink* Ok, you needed this. Seriously, dude, no reason to act like that. How about...going to a cafe? Anyways, things happen for a reason, maybe if this didn't happen, you'd end up all...alcoholic and junk.
And Daganev, is that sass coming from you? *eye*

I knew what I was doing. It was just being stupid. I carried a ping pong ball between my butt cheeks when I was sober. (Fraternity hazing stuff. At 18 you really dont think on your own very well)
Drago2005-02-08 04:47:19
Solution: Don't get drunk.
Solution to "Fraternity hazing stuff": tell them to shove it up their collective .
I love Australia. I can drink till I pass out and the only people that care, so long as I'm overage and not driving any sort of vehicle, are my parents.
Thus leading me to.. not getting drunk.
Its idiots like that one guy who drunk himself to death (seriously, your body tells you when to stop drinking, anyone who keeps drinking after that is an idiot) who make things tough on everyone else.
Solution: Blame the dead guy.
God I'm a .

That's not hazing! That's just good clean fun.
Nyla2005-02-08 21:47:21
There was bad hazing and there was just fun hazing. I dont see how something can be considered hazing if everyone is laughing and having a good time. Even the person that it's being done to.

I'm 18, and I can think on my own very well. I also think there's no need to drink to have fun. My best friend's birthday is coming up and we decided to go to fun-4-all in formals. Too bad her birthday is on a Friday, people are gonna think we're coming from a dance, not that we're just...odd.
