I Kinda in a trans client state at the moment and i was wondering what you think best client is in the coding department. What would probally be best for me is something that has good commands but isn't too complicated. Also at the moment i'm using a client called ROAclient and i was wondering what your comments on that would be and if you have any infomation on coding with it.
And whatever you do don't suggest zmud because i loath it.

I don't care if you loath it, I'm going to suggest Zmud. It might be buggy, easy to crash, slow, and complicated at times, but its code base is very strong. Its also one of the few clients that people can actually help you with.
Your next bet would probably be TinyFugue.

Another question i have is if anyone got the statlets in ROAclient to work with lusternia. And i don't think i could get zmud as it is a little too expensive for me at the moment

Tinyfugue, hands down.
It's free, runs on just about any OS, very powerful language, reasonably good documentation (if you're a programmer or familiar with manpages, and there are apparently quite a frew lusternians who use it.
Check out my site, www.bwbettin.com, if you're interested in giving it a shot. I have the latest source code and windows binaries, as well as some script that'll get you started off on the right foot. The latest help docs are posted there in html format as well.

You don't happen to have be a member who developed TinyFugue or something? *poke name*

tf was written by a guy named Ken Keys who uses the handle 'Hawkeye'. I doubt it.
Unknown2005-02-05 06:26:12
Yeah, I just realised that that bwbettin.com site isn't the official one.

I use RoA Client and I love it. Furthermore, I have gotten statlets to work although I ended up finding them annoying and got rid of them.

Heheh -- TinyFugue uses command prompt.
Unknown2005-02-05 09:20:02
Yes Zaltan, thats because its designed for Unix, on Unix your operating environment IS the command line. It may not look pretty, but I dare you to beat it for speed and power.
Unknown2005-02-05 09:24:30
And curudan, I am not sure what bwbettin's build is like, if its from standard source using cygwin, there are a few known issues with windows(though as I said, bwbettin may have changed it somewhat) the druware one has a lot of code changes to make it more stable on windows, I would suggest theres and I would suggest getting the 5 beta 6 lots more functionality on the internal coding side.

zMUD doesn't exactly take a few seconds longer to process the lines, so I don't mind how slow it is.
Also, I didn't mean that comment to be a negative one, I like command prompt.
Can TinyFugue take ANSI?

yes it has Ansi support

(That was quick.)
Okay. I can't get it to do anything, though. When I type 'intro' or 'commands', it does nothing.
Also, how can you make it so its display is more than the default command prompt's window size?

Wow, a lot of posts get sent when im asleep heh.
No, I am not a developer for TF, nor have I ever submitted any patches or anything. I think I've submitted/answered a question or two on the mailing list, but that's about it. I just really like the client.
My website is not 100% TF, though it may look it at the moment. What is at my site now is my new design, barely a week old. TF just happened to be the first topic I put up there because I was starting a new character/system the past few days. Also, I saw some people had a bunch of questions on it, so I added some scripts and things to be nice
I have not edited the downloads on my site in any way. The source code is the official, unaltered, 5.0 beta 6 source code downloaded of tf.tcp.com. The windows binary is the official, unaltered, 5.0 beta 6 binary downloaded from druware. The "origin" links next to them take you to the sites I got them from.
I use Debian Linux Sarge (testing version). At the moment, this distro does not have the latest beta version in it's package tree. So I have to install it from the source code if I want it.
I would highly recommend you use the latest beta, as opposed to the stable release. I've been using the beta versions for many months and havn't had a problem at all. The beta has many new features, and just works better. There are a bunch of difference between scripting for the stable release, and the beta. If you get a large system setup for the current stable, it'll be a pain in tha @$$ to convert everything for 5.0 if you want to switch to it when it eventually goes stable.

In regards to one of the earlier questions, "Should you use the source or the druware version?":
If you use Windows, use the druware version.
If you use anything else, use the source code (unless you can find a prebuilt package for your system - some linux distros or other OS's may have the latest beta already built).
