I realize this while commenting on another thread, the gods seem to wonder a lot about the amount of unsportsmanlike PK in Lusternia, even though so many of the skills are only good for ambushes.
Hexes- ambush only.
Tarot- it's not much without the three setup defenses, so you run in, make three quick strikes and run out.
Scourge- same thing.
Summon- no real purpose or use besides killing people who aren't expecting it by pulling them into a statue.
So, have I left any out?
I wonder, would it be too much to make stuff like scourge and the tarot defenses passive things that constantly drained power upon use? Their effectiveness could be lowered somewhat as well. Then they'd be useful for things besides ambushes.

The reason I got summon, and its main use, is so that when you have friends who did not learn teleport in Planar, you can still have them come to you.
The fact that peopele use it in combat, and it works is just silly. (e.g. people don't use knives in a gun fight cause it just doesn't work that well.)

How often do you have friends who haven't learned teleport though? All non-newbies are required to learn it for their guild I believe while newbies have portals.

I only associate with people who have bought 1,000 credits so I can mooch off of them, but otherwise, I have teleported a large number of people, novice and non novice alike, who just begged to be teleported.

We're not required to learn it in the Moondancers, only up to rift, in fact. It's highly recommended, but of course, quite a few people don't properly listen during the novice intro.

Lusternia is all about ambushing cause the methods of escaping are too numerous and easy to use.

Given the time it takes to summon (planar, not demesne), it really should only work if you've already incapacitated the target enough that they can't move out of the room, despite the length of the summon time.
The problem is that same time length makes it semi-useful in combat because, if the person walks back (or is blown back) in, they'll still be summoned. If the yoyo effect was removed, planar summon would probably be less effective in combat.
Edit: Same thing with shielding not stopping summon.

It's also a good deterrant for influencing.

It is also a valid way to pull raiders out. When Magnagora was raiding Delport I would wait for Tarielenwe and co. to attack the raiders, then start summoning to my demesne until the person either moved, shielded, or was summoned. Pulled Nayl out of Delport twice in fact using that.
Summon can be used on people to distracted to know they are being summoned.

You'd be suprised how many people you can catch with summon, if you just sit along the highway and scroll down yer enemy list, looking for people.
Edit: MAke it like dominate, so you cant summon someone if they are link dead.

Erm, I order linkdead people to eat food all the time.. Summon should just stop once the person moves, instead of still summoning them if they leave and then enter the room again.

Agreed, Drago.

Also agreed. Though, the summoner should also be instantly notified when the sumonee moves to compensate, rather then waiting for it.
