You tug upon the aether strands around you, searching for one that connects to
the Megalith of Doom.
You have recovered equilibrium.
You stumble as you feel invisible strands of force wrap around you, followed by
a high pitched thrum.
In a blaze of holy light, a celestial archangel suddenly appears.
Malicia has declared you a formal enemy of the Collective of Serenwilde.
Sticky strands of webbing spray out from Thaddeus to cover you.
You teleport along the aether strands to the Megalith of Doom.

Triggered yet again by Narsrim raids. Honestly, what good do you bring to Lusternia?

This can be said of so many people and so many aspects of the game that it's not even a relevant inquiry anymore.

I'll probably be following the rest of Magnagora to the land without MUDs soon - especially if I get this new job... (editorial assistant at Tor; with the commute, I wouldn't have -time- for MUDs).
Since I decided to stop playing 10+ hours a week (I'm at about 4 or so now) I've written 15k words
Actually, 20k words, but 5k of them sucked so much that I don't include them.
::coughs::

maybe..
no not really, but... ah screw it, in the 3 or so years Aetolia has been opened, Zephy has over a year playing time. This was like 5 months ago.

Just out of curiousity, what would you and any other Mag leaving do for anything? Would it prove a point? Doubtful. The immediate effect would be the further enjoyment of those you bother, namely Serenwilde. They stick around, buy credits, eat imaginary food, and partake in imaginary revelry. If I was an admin, I'd feel pretty good about this, the money still comes in, the game still grows and I wouldn't worry about fixing flaws within the game so urgently, the people who are around don't care.
Any Mag player who claims they're leaving due to Serenwilde, Celest, the rabbit who didn't drop enough gold, that newb who pk'd them, etc. isn't accomplishing anything for themselves. They're merely developing an image of a crybaby.

They would stop playing because they aren't having any fun. They wouldn't care what happens as a result of their leaving, since they don't play any more.
If they are spending time and money not having fun, leaving accomplishes quite a bit for them.

Singollo2005-02-10 05:34:50
Yet a strong majority of them have said they'd come back one way or another.
Unknown2005-02-10 05:36:21
So? That doesn't change anything.
Real people aren't Magnagoran, Celestian, or Serenwildian. They're people who might like to play MUDs. If they aren't having fun with a character, there's no point in continuing to play that character.
Not everyone is trying to prove some 'point' to you.

No, they've said they'll come back if things change.
Singollo2005-02-10 05:51:10
Exactly, and how is them leaving going to accelerate change in anything?
Unknown2005-02-10 05:59:51
I'm not leaving to prove a point, and I've only ever been waiting for Hallifax since we were given the mesa teasers.
Just noting how childish it is to log in to griefers running around, and how there's no use in leaving the city proper anymore. It's -boring-. -No fun-. -No point in continuing this conversation-.
I already spend twice as long on the boards than the game. I need to stop coming to the boards, also .

No amount of changes are going to affect the fact that a small group of players from Magnagora/Celest/Serenwilde are single-handedly making the game less fun for the other 95% of players.
