What do you want the gods to do next?

Back to Common Grounds.

Since the gods have stated that Serenwilde's advantages were largely due to a lack of time and not by design, I think the divine should prioritize balancing them over all of the other things they've been doing. This has gotten ridiculous...

Notice which cities' guilds are at the top in prettymuch every way? Yeah. I can't kill people with spores, fine. I can't attack their villages without being potion banned, fine. But both of those at once? When the gods have said it wasn't by intent yet they leave it this way while people abuse it? Not fine.
Shiri2005-02-07 00:39:20
You can kill people with spores.

...I'm still voting balance Serenwilde, though. Glomdoring needs comin' back.

Also, you're missing a LOT of options. dry.gif
Unknown2005-02-07 00:40:57
Really? I thought my poll's options were unusually well thought out and objective tongue.gif
Shiri2005-02-07 00:42:29
Ah, dear me, I thought you were serious for a moment there. tongue.gif Okay.
Unknown2005-02-07 00:46:25
I'm just worried that if they balance Serenwilde they'll forget to make Glomdoring unbalanced.

I'm looking forward to the Night Coven having Lich and Spores. Muahah.

All that needs to be done (yeah, say it like it's a small job why don't I?) is to add another commune with an alembic. That's all.
Unknown2005-02-07 00:52:26
There are countless ways to remove their potion monopoly without adding an entire new commune. For instance...

1. Make just one tainted forest guild with their guildhall in glomdoring. They would mostly take shelter inside of Magnagora until Glomdoring comes in after however long.

2. Put alembics in other places and make alchemy not require serenwilde citizenship.

3. Have bob sell a better variety of longer lasting potions. How about seasone-level for the basics and current bob level for the others? That would be enough.

Allow Serenwilde to have their potion monolpy, Cities have enchantments.
Unknown2005-02-07 00:58:53
When two cities are able to make/sell it, its not monopoly anymore, is it?

...

Cities - Plural, meaning two.

Serenwilde - Singular, meaning one.
Unknown2005-02-07 00:59:53
One can get by with bashing and even fighting without enchantments. I know - I've done it.
Unknown2005-02-07 01:03:37
The gods have said more than once on this forum that Serenwilde wasn't meant to have the potion monopoly, so sit down Shiro. And yes, enchantments are a convenience or a slight bonus (unless you're fighting hartstone sap), while potions are a requirement.
Desdemona2005-02-07 01:07:16
Yeah. Commune is singular in the present. Cities are plural.
In the future communes will be plural, too. If you like to complain how Serenwilde has the benefit of a monopoly, then hey... have Magnagora agree with Celest to ban Serenwilde of enchantments biggrin.gif Or, wait until either Ackleberry or Glomdoring show up.

Though never forget, that the alchemy ban existed because it was used as an advantage against Magnagora during the war, and it ended up as a monopoly because there wasn't any opposing competition.

Anyhow, a solution to make bans a failure is if you increase the black market. Ask the gods to allow forestals to build personal alembics in their manse wink.gif

On other matters... I wonder if Gaudiguch and Hallifax will have different trades, if they do, I hope each trade constitute a monopoly. closedeyes.gif Then maybe the complaints will be directed toward those two cities for a change.

Edit: Small correction.

A mutual ban of enchantments on Serenwilde would never work even if the two enemies agreed to work together on it, since one isn't obligated to take it seriously if the other is banned, they can't guard each other's enchantment rooms and they can fight without enchantments anyway.

I did my best fighting as a geomancer (not hard to do compared to elfen nihilist) with no enchantments whatsoever.
Elryn2005-02-07 01:12:01
Um, by 'balance Serenwilde' you are referring to alchemy alone?
Unknown2005-02-07 01:12:23
Here's another idea- take enchantments away from Magnagora and give them tainted alchemy. Celest can have the enchantments monopoly.

And you know what? That would be a cool monopoly, because enchantments are a bonus, not a requirement. We'd just need an alternate way to cure sap and it would be perfect.

The alchemy fix seems more likely to me than the spores fix, since the gods have said that the alchemy situation wasn't intentional. Still, either one would work for me, long as we can actually fight back against Tuek and Narsrim on at least one level.
Unknown2005-02-07 01:13:18
That isn't a good idea, you just don't want to see Serenwilde potion ban you again.

I'd love that. I mean, it's not going to happen, but I'd love it all the same.

Personally I think spores only need fixing so non-Moondancers can't use them, and maybe they take power, but alchemy being in our hands alone just is kinda meh.
