Your aura of weapons rebounding disappears.
Focusing on his head, you strike at Icarus with an elegant silver rapier, but
your thrust hits his powerful aura and rebounds back into you. You are poked in
the chin for a small puncture.

--/AURA/--

With a heavy overhand stroke, you slam an elegant silver rapier down upon
Icarus, but your swing hits his powerful aura and rebounds back into you.
Terenas hacks through your neck like it's butter, and your view of the world
suddenly spins wildly as your head flies through the air.
As your severed head hits the ground, you thankfully succumb to death.
You have been slain by Terenas.

Um, should instant kills like behead and bashbrain be reboundable like that? Knights already have a severe disadvantage compared to other classes because of rebounding, and now we can rebound instant kills? sad.gif

Hehe, beheading yourself, pretty funny. You should never let your head get damaged enough to let anyone, including yourself, pull off a behead on it though. Shield, rebound, or even run, eat sparkleberry and apply health to head till it's fixed.
Torak2005-02-07 10:33:31
Thats just great!

Ouch, that's got to be humiliating.

I half think that enchanters should be able to imbue a sword with AuraBreak, which would give a high chance of a rebounding aura shattering/being ignored when struck by an enchanted blade.
Thorgal2005-02-08 09:53:27
Or you could just...raze it.
Unknown2005-02-12 17:44:32
well, that kinda sucks... looks like the system calculates the effect of the weapon stroke based on the target's wounds, after that notices the rebounding and instead of throwing back the stroke it throws back the effect the stroke would've had on the target had it gone through, never mind that the attacker could've tanked the hit much better due to lack of wounds on his side... erk... oh well.
*sticks a sign to rebounding reading, "fix this!!"*

Nah. The chin puncture bit is what you will always get with a head jab. Your head could be at "0" and you would still get the same message. So.. Terenas' head was probably at the critical range.

However, I do think it is very, very odd that a person can behead themselves off a rebound. The physics alone defies logic. Especially since you are hacking downward.

Erm, I don't know if you picked up on this, but auras of rebounding defy physics anyhow. If I attack someone with a sword and hit this "aura", how am I then involuntarily swinging a sword at myself (?) with equal and opposite force? What would that even look like?

IRE, like religion, is not something that goes well with logic.

Suspend disbelief!

Swing... BOING.
Rodust2005-02-14 23:39:23
In another realm I had a neat little anti-rebounding script set up. Just set it up to whenever you see your targets aura go up, it turns on a variable.

You see an aura of rebounding around so and so.
rebounding=1

When you see it disappear just set the rebounding to 0 again.

Then you just make your aliases for striking to check if rebounding is 0 before hitting. If rebounding = 1 when you use your alias, then just set it to raze then slash instead of just slash slash. Not too complicated, and it works rather efficiently.

Echoes are a good thing to use when their aura goes up or down and when you see them put up a regular shield.

I do agree about the wierdness of chopping your own head off on a rebound though, don't get me wrong.

As the wise man once said.. "Make it simpler so that even a scientist can understand it."
silimaur2005-02-24 13:13:21
i feel that knights are already underpowered and being able to behead ourselves just makes things even worse, something should be done about that, or there should be a type of rebounding for magic attacks
Ceres2005-02-24 14:03:08
It is a little odd that knights, whose attacks do less damage and can miss, have to cope with rebounding, while classes with magical attacks that do twice as much damage and never miss do not.
Shryke2005-02-24 14:09:19
but knights cause affs, damage, and are generally faster...
