Here's my first skillset design biggrin.gif

It's quite simple, it's a warrior specialization that uses spears. A spear is a 2-handed weapon, often with a tassle on one end, but the nature of a spear allows for quick jabbing attacks so you can attack twice with it in quick succession. It has some unique abilities but takes a lot from blademaster and bonecrusher of course. The name could be spearform, dragoon or anything else the forum comes up with wink.gif

Spear fighting is mostly stabbing attacks, though there is some slashing and some blunt weapon based tactics. I've decided not to go through and specify which from which category it would have, as that's too much work for me at the moment, but I could outline the new skill ideas it would have and which it specifically wouldn't.

For instance, it would not have brainbash, behead or pinleg, though it would have both piercearm from blademaster and breakwrist from bonecrusher, as well as pierceleg (blademaster) and knockdown (bonecrusher) and disembowel and vomitblood. The tradeoff overall would probably still not equal the loss of the instant kill wounding, but it would have more moves in the skill that don't involve wounding as much. For instance-

Assail- 8 power. A rapid series of sharp jabs and randomly 1-2 blunt strikes with the spear for a total of 5 hits. Blunt attacks with a spear never give a toxin.

Tassles- The spear's blade is obfuscated by swirling tassles while the warrior attacks, making parrying more difficult.

Pushing- 3 power. If you succeed in impaling your target with your spear, you cannot continue to make attacks with the weapon in your other hand like some warriors, but you can push your helpless opponent in any direction you wish. The pain of being impaled makes size and other modifiers not take effect and your opponent will take damage and wounds from this, with a chance of being disembowelled. They cannot be on the ground for this.

Ricochet- You can strike your opponent's head with the blunt parts of your spear, stunning them momentarily even if they are wearing a helm. This can be used in a combo and thus followed with one blunt or edged attack with the spear.

Disarm- By spinning your spear around your opponent's weapon and arm after parrying a blow, you will have a chance to either disarm them, hit them in the head and stun them, or break their arm (mending salve fix).

Spearthrow- 10 power. With a mighty cry, you can heave your spear at any enemy in your line of sight, bypassing parry and stances to hit them in the area of your choice. This can cause impale, disembowel, pinleg, bareribs and other serious criticals if the target is wounded already. Furthermore, your target will move several rooms in the direction the spear was thrown.

Yeeees. And then make it Hallifax and stick Sonics and Statics on it. happy.gif Hm, I wonder if they'd have something special to do against mounted opponents, too. You know, like a glaive.

(...wait. Wait. Impale AND pinleg? Do you have any idea how hard that would be? tongue.gif)

Well, it would cause one, not both =) If your gut is wounded and it hits your gut, impale. If your leg is wounded and it hits your leg, pinleg.

I see influences from the Wardens...

So, there would be a sort of cross between Bonecrusher and Blademaster abilities?

I was thinking more chinese martial arts movies than wardens. Wardens are perhaps the worst class ever made tongue.gif You'll notice there's no spear spinning move of doom, pole vault etc.

The wound types would have some bonecrusher and some blademaster yes.
