Anyway..
"a powerplex matrix"
Acts like a gem of cloaking, in that it can be activated and deactivated. When active, power flows from your reserves to your personal power at a 33% increased rate, however, at the cost of 1 point of power per 1% of reserves, rather than the normal 2 points for 1%.
Basically, you can get your power back fast, but you would burn out a lot faster as well. On the other hand, you can just go slowly.. but then you can't use your skills as rapidly as someone with the thing could. -shrug-
Just a thought. Any feedback?

Not sure if it really needs to have a disadvantage. Arties do cost an awful lot of credits, after all.
Unknown2005-02-11 02:12:12
True enough. Think of it in these terms: Something with a disadvantage would be more afforable, and also give the deal with strategy. Something with no disadvantage.. would be expensive and a pretty much no-brainer for your artifact-laden freaks (such as myself).

I guess so. Then again, given that a brooch that stops people being blown out of trees and in the air costs 150 credits (I mean, that's half a trans skill), I'm not so sure something that just increases the effectiveness of discipline (and let's face it, said brooch is achievably with a novice totems power and a higher environment power) needs to have a disadvantage.
I guess it makes it more interesting, though. Hahhh.

Well, the practicality for it, though..
A Brooch just stops you from getting moved around rather inconvieniently. However, faster power means:
-Faster use of Pulp/Haymaker (for Knights)
-Faster use of Heretic/Infidel/Inquisition
-Faster use of Green for healing
-Quicker recovery from Trueheal
-etc
-etc
-etc
That's a piece more significant than not being able to get blown around.

Shiri, you are misled by the usefulness of the Brooch of the Tempest. I own one, and so does Narsrim, and it is the most useful artifact I own.
Edit: Shiri not Shiro.

I assume you mean Shiri. And...okay. Maybe I missed some of its effects or something. I don't have one, I just read it out of the file.

The wind blows you around a hell of a lot, here.
Say.. into a hexagram and down into guards.

Yeah, but artifacts should be only be slightly less than what it might require in lessons to achieve the same feat with skills.
Terenas2005-02-11 23:20:41
Regarding Lazul's idea to increase power renewal. Dumihru pointed out to me HELP DISCIPLINE states the primary benefit of discipline is to increase your rate of power renewal. I'm currantly at virtouso discipline right now and I have not noticed any increase in power renewal, still at around 1 power every 10 seconds. Could someone with trans discipline verify or deny this? If it's not working, perhaps we should bug it and have it actually work properly.
Unknown2005-02-11 23:23:24
It does seem to increase it, I'm transcendent.
Unknown2005-02-11 23:30:52
The more you speed the rate of power gain, the less significant power usage is to the fighting system. I don't think I would like this artifact.
Hazar2005-02-12 01:50:55
The whole point of the power system, though some forget, is to give a degree of strategy to the use of instakills, resurrections, and other strong skills. This artifact would destroy that, utterly, even with the disadvantage.

Ban artifacts! Every last one.
Well..not all of them. I agree with the others who say that it takes away the purpose of power (I also believe that at the rate all three nexus sources are gaining power, it diminishes the urgency in working to build power anyhow) and that it's unneccesary. Haymaker isn't that great anyhow. I'd do more damage with normal targetted strikes. Haymaker is all show!

I hate to be curious, but...why is my post in your post?
Malicia2005-02-14 03:58:10
I inserted a quote, or your entire post, smart guy.
Shiri2005-02-14 11:57:39
He got that. He just wasn't quite sure why it was relevant.
