This was brought up in another thread, though ur'guard are supposed to be the orlach race, they get no bonuses and aren't the best race for the class. Perhaps this should change somehow?
Unknown2005-02-12 03:27:26
Indeed! I'd love to see a bonus for Orclach ur'Guard.
Shiri2005-02-12 03:35:02
Wouldn't it be a PENALTY for orclach ur'guard? I think that was the problem.
Unknown2005-02-12 03:45:47
The Orclach were always the primary fighting force of the ur'Guard, historically. Although the touch of Kethuru turned them into orcs, the taint that now exists affects them in the same way it does everything else. Judging from the way they are shown as worshipping death in the histories, i'd think an undead Orclach knight would be able to go pretty damn crazy/awesome.
Unknown2005-02-12 03:48:55
Perhaps give Orclach a bonus if they go ur'guard and a bonus if they go paladin as well, to represent how some are loyal to the ur'guard still while others are vehemently against it.
Akraasiel2005-02-12 03:52:48
No, the paladins were traditionally all Merian, the Ur'Guard were all Orclach
Unknown2005-02-12 03:53:15
Nah. Just because an Orclach opposes the ur'Guard doesn't mean they're a paladin. In fact, I think they'd be more likely to go Serenguard, if not rogue.
Roark2005-02-12 04:10:35
That was pre-taint. Some orclach take offense at the taint in modern times.
Silvanus2005-02-12 04:13:26
Cause it makes them orcs.
Akraasiel2005-02-12 04:25:17
Just a general bitching point.
Ur'guard Viscanti
16 str
15 con
15 size
11 int
10 dex
10 charisma
lvl 3 regen in taint
poison gas at level 50
lvl 2 elixer disadvantage
Ur'guard Orclach
15 str
14 con
15 size
10 dex
8 int
8 charisma
lvl 2 cold resist (not many cold attacks)
lvl 1 electric resist (not many electric attacks out there either)
lvl 2 health regeneration
lvl 3 fire weakness (a fair bit of fire attacks)
lvl 1 slower balance and equi
lvl 1 experience disadvantage
Im not sure why the Ur'Guard Orclach are weaker than Ur'Guard Viscanti whether in the taint or out of it... it really doesnt make that much sense.

I agree. Racial diversity is a good thing. However, some races are just ridiculously better than others in their current form.

Tweak the Orclah, make them better.

Yeah, it would be great if Orclach had stat alterations when becoming Ur'Guard, maybe this way more people would try to make Orclach the elite of the Guard. The small problem I see, though, is that the Orclach have big power/cont/size, and everything else is on floor levels... Up to now, every stat alteration requires for the initial race stats to decrease in some areas and increase on the other, depending on whether it is a warrior class or mage/guardian(?).
What would happen to the Orclach if they had stats alterations? -1 int -1 dex seems too much regarding how low those stats are for them already. Imagine -2 -2 giving orclachs 6 INt and 6 dex
On the other hand, if Orclach had stat alterations when going mage/guardian like Urlach, they would have loads of size/strength to take from: -3 st, -3 size for +6 int
Still, Orclach would be awesome if they had some stat alterations for the path they choose.
In the meantime, also alter Taurians -5 charisma +5 strength

Like it's not hard enough for Taurian's to get dates already?
Desdemona2005-02-12 22:28:42
Excuse me? Dates? Why would Taurians be succesful dating other species when they can easily be turned into mince-meatby their strength/fury? Taurians should be more of the "abduct virgins from other cities and escape with them and have some fun" kind of race.
Orlachs and Taurians should have upgrades, Orclach class alterations depending on what specialization they take, and the Taurians much more strength and lew charisma

And Furrikini and Faelings.
