Im watching this godzilla movie and I got thinking.
I havent been everywhere, I havent looked under every rock nor traveled every dungeon but in all my travels I cant help but sense theres.....something....missing.
Where are the epic creatures for stalwart groups of adventures to slay? Creatures so huge, so devestating that it takes swarms of people to bring the thing down.
For those who have traveled the world you know that even though the world is huge room wise it really isnt that big since its basicaly a big circle and travel time to any given point isnt very long at all so I can understand why you wouldnt want to put in a boss monster for every region.
But there should be at least one or two great wyrms lurking about.....somewhere. Kraken for the InnerSea, FireDrake for the Desert, Yeti for the mountains....Ill even settle for an attack chiuaua if you make him enough of a challenge
Its ironic that I hate achaea so much yet Ive been going back to compare what they have that we dont.......hey even in garbage there can be a gem now and then....and one thing they do have is alot of bossmonsters that take huge groups of people to slay.
I was just wondering why there isnt any real uber creatures lurking out there. Is it a level thing? There arent alot of players over level 80 so there isnt any incentive to make them? Or is it just that Lusternia was never meant to have them.

They all called supernals. Raziela is the attack chihuaha, too. Damn anklebiter!

He's got a point, where's Lusternia's Yudhishthira?

When the world was forged, each landmass was born of a spirit of a monster of great power. Legends say that there may be a way to call forth these spirits from the earth, though their reactions are hardly consistant, and often the eternities of solitude within the land make them violently xenophobic.
(just a little storyweaving in my head) Might be an interesting thing, to summon a spirit of the land, a complex quest to do so, then the spirit may randomly attack any who approach it, or perhaps be a bit more neutral, even having great tasks for the caller to perform.

Supernals/Demonlords serve that purpose, but I would like to see an astral monstrosity.
Astral is the most dangerous plane and it only makes sense for the hardest denizen to be there as well. The monstrosity would wander around all the spheres (not confined by closed spheres) and it would have a percent chance to take you to a un-summonable room where it's one on one- until you or it dies. It would be incredibly hard, so only the toughest could kill it, but it would be killable.
Or..it could be simpler. Have the monstrosity in a separate room or its own tower that has a perma mono there. It would be on the order of Yud from Achaea, or perhaps harder.

You mean Kethuru? *duck*

The Supers and Demonlords dont count. if you do manage to take one down your enemied for life.....ummm...not exactly what I was thinking of.
I was thinking of single big game mobs in regions that are accessible to all. Specificaly they should be on the prime, have long reset times and basicaly annihilate 95% of solo players outright who try to take them down.
Something isnt right in the world when the meanest thing on prime is a rabid clam. Yea I laughed too until it got me in an anklelock. Even lachesis smirked at me on that death. I cant eat chowder without getting the shakes now.

I'm not sure if you have noticed, but Lusternia does not exactly have killing without consequence as one of its features.
Richter2005-02-14 08:10:04
Can you see me going off to kill a demon lord or supernal?
Nope.
We need something like Yuddi, where you get a cool thing for killing it, and it's neutral. I don't need to get enemied to anything more, and I have no RP reason for killing said mobiles.

There may be a few of these in the reasonably near future, but we didn't want to just implement an area without a storyline to explain why this big zsarachnor/yuddy type monster hasn't completely taken over the basin.
And yeah, there are quite a few aligned mobs that are incredibly difficult to kill (go attack the White Hart some time and see how long you last).

Meh, I just wish Crow wasn't unkillable. Meh. Stupid transforming into a Murder of Crows... was funny how we managed to get him to that state with my gauntlet idea.

He is killable, it's just very difficult.
Citera2005-02-14 10:49:48
We killed two of the smaller crows, remember? But the others seemed to just disappear, lost them altogether. If they have been accessible, we would have slain Crow

I'd be very interesting if an area with boss monsters was added to Astral.. though would it be possible to add some kill-this-and-that quests as well?
I was thinking in terms like, you need to kill a few very difficult monsters to get special items and only with them you have a chance to kill the boss monster..
Also, could there ever be some special reward for quests? Not just a nice honours line or a health/mana for a month or so, but actually something that lasts?

Interesting idea. If we ever did that, it certainly wouldn't be for a while. Maybe when we've done all the other cool stuff we're planning.

Karma when it comes to stat bonuses yes. But i was also thiking in terms of quest rewards that don't necessarily have to be gold.
Like getting paid with comms instead of just getting a bit of gold. Or gaining items that are uniqe to that quest and which stay with you just like the honours line. Not things that boost your damage or something, that's what artifacts are for, but maybw a piece of jewelry with a uniqe design made of materials that don't exist on prime (provided you get it from a monster on Astral)
Just.. things for which you had to work for IG to get them. Like Titan for example
